CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The 2022 American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Cheer and Dance Invitational will take place Sunday, February 20 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Nebraska Wesleyan University will host the fifth annual conference event inside Snyder Arena with competition beginning at 11:00 a.m.
This year’s event will feature seven divisions: Dance (3 categories: Hip-hop, Jazz, Pom), Cheer (4 categories: Cheer & Stunt All Female, Cheer & Stunt Co-ed, Group Stunt, Game Day).
Out of the nine conference institutions, eight currently have competitive cheer teams and six sponsor dance. A-R-C institutions with competitive cheer include: Buena Vista, Central, Coe, Dubuque, Loras, Nebraska Wesleyan, Simpson, Wartburg. Institutions sponsoring dance include: Buena Vista, Central, Coe, Nebraska Wesleyan, Simpson, Wartburg. Luther College will be participating in the A-R-C Invitational for the first time.
At last year’s invitational, Simpson left Dubuque with two first-place finishes. The Storm earned first-place finishes in pom and hip-hop on the dance side. They also finished second in the jazz category. Wartburg took home two first-place finishes on the cheer side – game day and group stunt. The Knights earned a second-place finish in poms on the dance side. The Central Dutch collected a first-place finish in the jazz category.
