CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The 2020 American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Cheer and Dance Invitational will take place Sunday, February 16 in Dubuque, Iowa. The University of Dubuque will host the third annual conference event at the
Stoltz Sports Center with competition beginning at 1:00 pm.
This year's event will feature six divisions: Dance (3 categories: Hip-hop, Jazz, Pom), Cheer (3 categories: Cheer-All Women, Cheer-Stunt Group, Gameday).
Out of the nine conference institutions, six currently have competitive cheer teams and five sponsor dance. A-R-C institutions with competitive cheer include; Buena Vista, Central, Dubuque, Loras, Nebraska Wesleyan, and Wartburg. Institutions sponsoring dance include; Buena Vista, Central, Nebraska Wesleyan, Simpson, and Wartburg.
At last year's invitational, Simpson earned first-place finishes in Hip-hop and jazz, both for the second consecutive year. The Storm took home a second place finish in Pom. The Dutch took home 1st prize in Pom, with second place finishes in Hip-hop and Jazz categories. Dubuque won 1st place finishes in both Cheer-stunt and the 5-person stunt category. The Wartburg Knights took home second place in both the Cheer-stunt and the 5-person stunt.
