Luther College Captures Men and Women Titles at 2022 A-R-C Swimming & Diving Invitational

DECORAH, Iowa – The swimming and diving teams from the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) took to the pool inside the David E.G. and Patricia Miller Natatorium on the campus of Luther College for the 2022 A-R-C Swimming and Diving Invitational. The Luther men took home the title with a score of 604.5, while the Norse women also took home the title with a score of 708.5.
 
The individual athlete awards went to three different schools. Lauren Pio of Coe College took home the 2022 A-R-C Invitational Women’s Swimmer of the Meet. She won the 200- and 400-yard individual medley in times of 2:11.24 and 4:40.12, respectively. Pio also took home the title in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:28.32.
 
Coe’s Luke Baldwin and Nebraska Wesleyan’s Cael Dice were named 2022 A-R-C Invitational Men’s Co-Swimmers of the Meet. Baldwin was first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:57.03 and the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke in times of 58.37 and 2:09.00. Dice took home the title in 100- and 200-yard backstroke in times of 50.53 and 1:50.91, setting a new pool record in each of those events. He also won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.02.
 
Coe’s Megan Norris was named the 2022 A-R-C Invitational Women’s Diver of the Meet after taking home the title in the one- and three-meter diving events with scores of 443.05 and 435.75, respectively. Norris earned NCAA Division III National Qualifying scores for each of the diving events.
 
Luther’s Jack Bell took home the 2022 A-R-C Men’s Diver of the Meet after posting scores of 412.85 and 434.35 in the one- and three-meter diving events. Bell posted an 11-dive total of 434.10 in the preliminary round of the one-meter dive that was a qualifying mark for the NCAA Division III Regional Diving Championships.
 
Adam Cvetich, first-year head coach of the Simpson Storm women’s swim team, was named the 2022 A-R-C Invitational Women’s Swimming Coach of the Meet. The Storm posted a four-day total score of 245.5. On the men’s side, Kyle Hunt of Nebraska Wesleyan was named the 2022 A-R-C Invitational Men’s Swimming Coach of the Meet. The men’s Prairie Wolves team posted a four-day total score of 564.5, finishing in second place.
 
Coe College diving coach, Tony Kramer, was named the 2022 A-R-C Invitational Women’s Diving Coach of the Meet. He helped lead Norris to two first-place finishes and two NCAA Division III qualifying marks. Aaron Zander, the head coach for the Luther swim and dive teams, was named the 2022 A-R-C Invitational Men’s Diving Coach of the Meet. The Norse finished first and second in the one- and three-meter diving events.
