Elsah, ILL.-- Four Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) runners earned All-American honors at the 2017 NCAA Division III National Men's Cross Country Championships. Of the
279 runners in the 8k race, the top 40 men earn All-American honors.
After being named the 2017 Central Region Male Athlete of the Year, Central's
Mark Fairley earned All-American honors after finished in 26th place. The senior crossed the finish line in a time of 24.48.87. Fairley was the highest IIAC finisher at the championships. Also earning All-American distinction was Wartburg's
Eli Kaczinski. With a time of 24:55.67, the senior crossed the finish line in 35th place. Loras had two runners garner All-American honors in
Timothy Sevcik and
Mason Tope. Sevcik finished 36th in a time of 24:56.28 while Tope crossed the line in 40th place. Tope finished in a time of 25:00.46.
In the team race, Central Region and Iowa Conference Champions, Loras College finished in ninth with 301 points. Wartburg cliamed the 20th position with 458 points and Nebraska Wesleyan finished in 31st with 733 ponts. The 2017 Men's NCAA Division III Cross Country Champion was North Central (Ill.). North Central finished with 57 points.
