IOWA CITY, IOWA . . . . Luther College, behind three golfers in the top-10 including a 73 from Paul Soener, shot a 309 and holds a four-stroke lead in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Men's Golf Championship after 18 holes at Finkbine Golf Course.
Two-time defending medalist Andy Petersen of Central fired a 3-under-par 69 to lead Soener by four strokes. Loras' Mark Dolphin is third after firing a 3-over-par 75, followed by Buena Vista's Mitch Brunick and Luther's Jack McLeod with 4-over-par 76s.
Central sits second after one round with a 313 followed by Loras (315) and Buena Vista (318).
The IIAC Championship continues on Saturday at Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City. Tee times begin at 9:00 a.m. with players from Luther, Central, and Loras. Buena Vista, Wartburg, and Coe players will be paired together followed by players from Dubuque, Simpson, and Cornell.
