IOWA CITY, Iowa --- Central battled blustery conditions at Finkbine Golf Course Friday to fire a 326 team total and take a 15-stroke lead into the final round of the 2011 Iowa Conference Men's Golf Championship.

On a day when scores were generally higher due to the windy conditions, Central's Justin Livingston fired a 5-over-par 77 and, with a 226 total, will sit overnight on a 1-stroke 54-hole lead over Loras teammates Sam Herrmann and Joe Leibfried. Herrmann, the 18- and 36-hole leader, carded a 81 Friday after posting back-to-back 73s during the first two rounds. Leibfried, playing in the last group of the day, fired the low individual round Friday with a 2-over-par 74. Central's Jason Harvey is fourth at 228 after a 79 Saturday, while Dubuque's Martin Odegard and Simpson's Matt Spaulding are tied for fifth at 233.

Luther fired the best team round of the day with a 316, jumping from fourth to second with a 54-hole total of 943. The Norse lead third-place Loras (944) by one stroke, Buena Vista (949) by six, and Dubuque (955) by 12. Simpson (966), Wartburg (978), Coe (984), and Cornell (1,092) round out the field.

Weather permitting, the squads will attempt to complete the tournament Saturday with another 18 holes at Finkbine. Teams from Wartburg, Coe, and Cornell are scheduled to tee off at 9 a.m., followed by players from Buena Vista, Dubuque, and Simpson at approximately 9:50 a.m. The final wave, which will include golfers from Central, Luther, and Loras, will go off No. 1 beginning at approximately 10:40 a.m.
