39 A-R-C Men's Basketball Student-Athletes Named to NABC Honors Court; Eight Teams Honored with Team Excellence Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) recently announced thet Team Academic Excellence Awards and Honors Court recipients. 39 American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) student-athletes were named to the Honors Court and eight men’s basketball teams earned the Academic Excellence Award. 
 
The NABC Honors Court recognizes men’s college basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the previous season. In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows: 
  • Academically a junior, senior, or graduate student and a varsity player
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the academic year
  • Member of a four-year institutions with at least one active NABC-member coach
The NABC recognizes men’s college basketball programs that excelled in academics during the previous season with the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award. In order to receive the Team Academic Excellence Award, a program must achieve a team GPA of 3.0 or higher for the previous academic year.
 
Each institution must count the GPA of all men’s basketball student-athletes who were listed on the team roster during the previous season. All four-year and two-year colleges with at least one active NABC-member coach are eligible.
 
Earning the Academic Excellence Award from the A-R-C were Central College, Coe College, University of Dubuque, Loras College, Luther College, Nebraska Wesleyan University, Simpson College, and Wartburg College.

About the American Rivers Conference
The Conference dates back to December 8, 1922, when representatives from 12 colleges got together and formed the "Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Association." Honoring its heritage in Iowa and its expansion outside the state, the American Rivers Conference brand was established on August 9, 2018, to build on the academic and athletic success provided by its legacy, the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
