CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The 2025 American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Competitive Cheer and Dance Championship will take place Sunday, February 16 in Storm Lake, Iowa. Buena Vista will host the third conference championship event inside Siebens Fieldhouse with competition beginning at 11:00a.

This year’s event will feature six divisions: Dance (three categories: Hip-Hop, Jazz, Pom) and Cheer (three categories: 5-person Group Stunt, Game Day, 2.5-Minute).

The A-R-C Competitive Dance Conference Champion will be decided by an average score from the Pom and Jazz routines. A divisional winner will be crowned in each of the three Dance categories in addition to the overall A-R-C Dance Champion.

The A-R-C Competitive Cheer Champion will be decided by the score of the 2.5-minute routine; with less than the required minimum number of teams competing (five), the competitive cheerleading event will be held as an invitational again this year. A divisional winner will be crowned in the 5-person Group Stunt and Game Day categories, with the A-R-C Competitive Cheer Invitational Champion being named from the 2.5-minute routine.

At last year’s dance championship, the Central Dutch left Waverly with a sweep in all three categories to earn the Dance Championship trophy. At the cheer invitational, Wartburg College came away with first place in the 2.5-minute routine.

About the American Rivers Conference
The Conference dates back to December 8, 1922, when representatives from 12 colleges got together and formed the "Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Association." Honoring its heritage in Iowa and its expansion outside the state, the American Rivers Conference brand was established on August 9, 2018, to build on the academic and athletic success provided by its legacy, the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The A-R-C has nine full-time members: Buena Vista University, Central College, Coe College, University of Dubuque, Loras College, Luther College, Nebraska Wesleyan University, Simpson College, and Wartburg College.
