CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) and Chi Alpha Sigma have announced an exciting new partnership aimed at elevating the academic and athletic experience for student-athletes across the conference. The collaboration underscores both the conference’s mission and Chi Alpha Sigma's commitment to fostering excellence in the classroom.
"The American Rivers Conference places primary emphasis on the academic progress of students," stated A-R-C Commissioner
Marie Stroman. "Establishing Chi Alpha Sigma chapters at each A-R-C school will recognize those student-athletes who excel in their academic work as well as in their athletic endeavors. Induction into Chi Alpha Sigma is an honor that will promote even more opportunities for the student-athletes who are making an impact through successful careers."
The A-R-C, a collegiate athletic conference known for its competitive programs and dedication to student-athlete success, has always been a strong proponent of balancing academics with athletics. Chi Alpha Sigma is a national collegiate athlete honor society that shares the conference’s dedication to recognizing and celebrating the achievements of student-athletes who excel academically.
The partnership, with all nine schools now having chapters, represents a significant step forward in enhancing the overall student-athlete experience. Through this partnership, the conference aims to support and celebrate its members and student-athletes in achieving a higher standard of academic excellence, while also providing recognition to those who embody the balance it takes to be a Division III student-athlete.
"I am tremendously proud to welcome the American Rivers Conference and their membership into the Chi Alpha Sigma community,” wrote
Kellen Wells-Mangold, Chi Alpha Sigma Executive Director. “Their focus on developing and supporting high achieving student-athletes fits right in line with our purpose and I look forward to celebrating their classes with them this year."
Chi Alpha Sigma not only recognizes academic excellence but also names a Scholar Athlete of the Year and awards Postgraduate Scholarships. Loras and Luther already had chapters on their respective campuses, but this partnership now allows all nine A-R-C institutions to have chapters on campus. There are over 350 chapters nationwide.
