Wartburg's Feigenbaum and Dubuque's Wisdom Named American Rivers Conference Athletes of the Week

Performers of the Week Announced in Seven Sports

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) announced that Wartburg College volleyball player Allison Feigenbaum (Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar) and University of Dubuque men’s soccer player Drew Wisdom (Peoria, Ill./Dunlap) have been named American Rivers Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, October 1, 2023. The Conference also announced Performers of the Week in men’s and women’s cross country, football, men’s and women’s soccer, women’s tennis, and volleyball.

Female Athlete of the Week – Volleyball – Offensive Player of the Week19498
Allison Feigenbaum, Wartburg College
Jr., MB, Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar
  • Feigenbaum led the Wartburg Knights to a 3-1 week that included their first league win of the year.
  • In league play, the Knights fell to league foe, Coe, in three sets, while downing Buena Vista (3-0).
  • In non-conference action, Wartburg swept No. 23-ranked Cornell and picked up another win over Grinnell (3-0).
  • The junior hit .450 on the week, while posted a blistering .733 hitting average in the win over Buena Vista.
  • She tallied 31 kills,13 digs, five solo blocks, and 12 block assists.
  • The lone contest on the Wartburg schedule this week will be when they travel to St. Paul, Minnesota for a test against No. 5-ranked Northwestern (Minn.).
  • Wartburg’s record sits at 8-11 overall and 1-1 in league action.
  • The Marion, Iowa native is collecting her fourth-career Offensive Player of the Week accolade, and second of this season (9/26/22, 10/11/22, 9/18/23, 10/2/23).

Male Athlete of the Week – Men’s Soccer – Offensive Player of the Week19563
Drew Wisdom, University of Dubuque
So., F, Peoria, Ill./Dunlap
  • Wisdom guided the Spartans to a comeback win over Central College in league play (3-2).
  • At the 64th minute, Wisdom netted his first goal of three and within seconds later, he knotted the game 2-2.
  • The game winning goal came in the 81st minute of the game.
  • The forward played for only 34 minutes in the contest off the bench.
  • The Spartans improve to 3-6-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play and will host Coe on Wednesday and travel across town to Loras this week for two conference contests.
  • The Peoria, Illinois native is garnering his first-career Offensive Player of the Week honor.

Men’s Cross Country – Runner of the Week19564
Christopher Collet, Wartburg College
Sr., Verona, Ill./Seneca
  • Collet crossed the finish line first at the Dan Huston Invite hosted by No. 7 Wartburg College on Saturday.
  • The senior finished with a time of 24:46.10 and 8.8 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.
  • He guided the No. 7 Knights to a team title, finishing first out of 21 teams with 29 points.
  • Wartburg will be back in action on October 14th when they travel to the Augustana Interregional in Rock Island, Illinois.
  • Collet is a four-time All-Conference honoree while also taking home the individual conference champion title at the 2022 championships.
  • The Verona, Illinois native is garnering his fifth-career Runner of the Week honor (10/2/23, 10/17/22, 10/3/22, 9/19/22, 9/6/22).

Women’s Cross Country – Runner of the Week19565
Lexi Brown, Wartburg College
Sr., New London, Iowa/New London
  • Brown finished first out of 200 total runners with a time of 22:03.40 at the Dan Huston Invitational at Wartburg’s home event.
  • The senior finished 4.6 seconds ahead of second place.
  • The No. 2-ranked Knights finished first out of 18 teams, with 31 points.
  • Brown and the Knights will compete again on October 14 when they travel to Rock Island, Illinois to compete at the Augie Inter-Regional.
  • Brown is a three-time All-Conference performer while also earning All-American honors last season.
  • The New London, Iowa native is collecting her second-career Runner of the Week award, and second this season (9/18/2023).

Football – Offensive Player of the Week19380
Hunter Clasen, Wartburg College
Fifth Year, RB, Springbrook, Iowa/Bellevue
  • Clasen led the No. 4/4-ranked Knights to a 27-21 win over Coe College in an important league matchup.
  • The fifth year totaled 149 rushing yards, averaging 7.1 yards per carry.
  • He recorded two rushing touchdowns, which included the game tying and game winning touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
  • Clasen’s 67-yard run in the fourth quarter marks his career high for a single rush, surpassing his 64-yard rush last season.
  • The Knights improved their record to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in league play.
  • The win on Saturday moves Wartburg to solo first place in the conference.
  • Wartburg travels to Luther on Saturday for their next A-R-C contest.
  • The 2022 A-R-C Offensive Most Valuable Player, Clasen is now a two-time All-Conference performer, in addition to being named Honorable Mention in 2019.
  • The Springbrook, Iowa native is earning his third Offensive Player of the Week honor, and second this season (10/2/23, 9/5/23, 10/11/22).

Football – Defensive Player of the Week19566
CJ Hangartner, Simpson College
So., LB, Tucson, Ariz./Cienega
  • Hangartner had a dominating performance in Simpson’s 55-28 win at Buena Vista University on Saturday.
  • The sophomore linebacker recorded a season-high 10 tackles (all solo) including seven for a loss of 36 total yards.
  • Hangartner forced a strip-sack fumble that was returned for a touchdown late in the second quarter.
  • He tallied three sacks, the most in a single game by an individual player in the conference this season.
  • Hangartner had a quarterback hurry on the Beavers second-to-last drive that resulted in the Storm’s second interception of the game.
  • The Storm improved to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in A-R-C play.
  • Simpson will have a bye this weekend before taking on Coe College on October 14th for their homecoming game.
  • The Tucson, Arizona native is picking up his first Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Football – Special Teams Player of the Week19562
Isaia Morones, Buena Vista University
Fifth Year, WR, Santa Barbara, Calif./Bishop Diego
  • Morones scored the Beavers first touchdown of the day with a 95-yard kickoff return to cut the Simpson lead in half (14-7) midway through the first quarter.
  • This marks his first career return for a touchdown and the longest since an 88-yard return for touchdown in 2019 for Buena Vista.
  • The Beavers fell to the Storm 55-28.
  • The fifth year additionally added three receptions for 48 yards in the loss.
  • Buena Vista dropped to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in league play as they get set to travel to Cedar Rapids to take on Coe this Saturday.
  • The Santa Barbara, California native is collecting his first-career Special Teams Player of the Week honor, and the first for the Beavers since 2021.

Men’s Soccer – Defensive Player of the Week19567
Zachary Weis, Nebraska Wesleyan University
Jr., GK, Omaha, Neb./Omaha Skutt Catholic
  • Weis helped the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves to a 2-1 victory over Loras College on Saturday.
  • The junior recorded four saves to help the Prairie Wolves secure a second half comeback.
  • As goalkeeper, Weis delivered the game-winning assist to Jaden Hayes with just under 10 minutes remaining in the game.
  • Nebraska Wesleyan earned their second win over Loras since joining the American Rivers Conference in 2016.
  • Loras is currently ranked No. 5 in the United Soccer Coaches Region IX Poll.
  • NWU improved to 7-1-2 overall and 1-1 in league play.
  • The Prairie Wolves will host Wartburg College for a conference match on Wednesday afternoon in Lincoln, Nebraska.
  • Weis is a 2022 All-Conference performer after earning Honorable Mention accolades in 2021.
  • This is the Omaha, Nebraska native’s second-career Defensive Player of the Week honor (10/2/23, 10/17/22).

Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player of the Week19568
Savannah Johnson, Loras College
Sr., F, Wauconda, Ill./Wauconda
  • Johnson and the RV Loras Duhawks went 2-0 on the week with a 3-0 win over UW-Oshkosh and 4-0 win over Nebraska Wesleyan University.
  • The senior forward totaled four of the seven goals on the week.
  • Johnson recorded a hat trick, scoring all three goals against the Titans of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
  • She currently ranks second in the conference with 10 goals this season.
  • The RV Duhawks improved to 9-1 overall and remain a perfect 2-0 in league play.
  • Loras takes the pitch on Saturday when they host University of Dubuque at the Rock Bowl.
  • Johnson is a 2022 Honorable Mention performer.
  • The Wauconda, Illinois native is garnering her first Offensive Player of the Week award in her career.

Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player of the Week19569
Reagan Lindsay, Loras College
Jr., MF, Waterloo, Iowa/Waterloo
  • Lindsay led the Loras Duhawks to a 2-0 record on the week with a conference win over Nebraska Wesleyan (4-0) and a non-conference win over Wisconsin-Oshkosh (3-0).
  • The junior midfielder recorded two assists in the Oshkosh game while adding a goal in the Nebraska Wesleyan game, for a total of four points on the week.
  • She leads the Duhawks offense who recorded their ninth shutout in ten games this season.
  • The Duhawks currently only allows .20 goals per game.
  • Loras moves their record to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in league play and will host in-town rival, Dubuque, on Saturday in a conference contest.
  • The Waterloo, Iowa native is earning her first-career Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Women’s Tennis – Player of the Week19570
Mary Breitbach, Loras College
Fr., Peoria, Ill./Peoria Notre Dame
  • Breitbach and the Duhawks went undefeated over the weekend in conference action.
  • Loras defeated Simpson (9-0) and Central (8-1) while on the road for both contests.
  • In singles, Breitbach defeated Simpson’s Bella Tranquilino (6-2, 6-0) and Central’s Jennifer Larson (6-0, 6-0) while playing in the No. 1 position.
  • On the doubles side, the freshman paired up with Dorothy Deans to down Grace Peck/Savana Walls of Simpson (8-1) and Jennifer Larson/Madi Whalen of Central (8-0) in No. 1 doubles.
  • The Duhawks improved their record to 7-1 overall and a perfect 4-0 in league play.
  • Loras has a heavy week of conference contests as they will travel to Coe on Wednesday then host Nebraska Wesleyan and Buena Vista on Saturday.
  • This is the Peoria, Illinois natives first-career Player of the Week accolade.

Volleyball – Defensive Player of the Week19393
Sara Hoskins, Loras College
Sr., S, Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley
  • Hoskins led the Loras Duhawks to a 1-2 week, including a 3-2 victory over Grinnell College.
  • The senior setter surpassed 1,000 digs and 2,500 assists in her career after posting 50 assists and 24 digs in a five-set loss to University of Dubuque.
  • Hoskins added to her career tally in the victory over Grinnell by dishing out 55 assists and 21 digs.
  • Rounding out the competition on the week, Hoskins accumulated 25 assists in a 3-0 loss to Augustana.
  • She currently sits third in the A-R-C in assists (9.16/set and 614 total).
  • The Duhawks are back in action this weekend as they travel to Indianola and Pella to take on Simpson College and Central College for two conference matchups.
  • Hoskins is a two-time Honorable Mention performer.
  • The Bettendorf native is earning her third-career Defensive Player of the Week accolades (10/2/23, 9/5/23, 9/6/22).
