Alyssa Pfadenhauer (West Burlington, Iowa/Danville), Wartburg College men’s track performer
Dallas Wright (Carlisle, Iowa/Carlisle) and University of Dubuque field performer
Cade Collier (LeClaire, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) have been named American Rivers Conference Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, May 15, 2022. The Conference also announced Performers of the Week in baseball and men’s and women’s outdoor track and field.
Co-Female Athlete of the Week – Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Performer of the Week
Grace Alley, Loras College
Jr., Seneca, Ill./Seneca
- Alley competed at the A-R-C Outdoor Track & Field championships this past weekend, and was named Most Valuable Track Performer.
- The junior was named all-conference in three events, two of which were field events.
- Loras’ Alley set a new championship mark in the high jump with a leap of 1.74 meters.
- In the triple jump, she claimed third with a jump of 11.65 meters.
- The Duhawk standout also won the heptathlon with a total of 4,550 points.
- The Secena prep is collecting her third-career Women’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Week accolade (5/15/22, 4/25/22, 5/17/21).
Co-Female Athlete of the Week – Women’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Performer of the Week
Alyssa Pfadenhauer, Loras College
Jr., West Burlington, Iowa/Danville
- Pfadenahuer and the Duhawks competed at the A-R-C Outdoor Track & Field championships this weekend, where she claimed all-conference in four events and was named Most Valuable Track Performer.
- She climbed to the top of the podium after crossing the line first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.98.
- Pfadenhauer ran a blazing time of 24.13 and came in second in the 200-meter dash.
- She was also a part of two Duhawk relays that brought home the gold, running 46.99 in the 4-by-400 and 3:51.52 in the 4-by-400.
- The West Burlington, Iowa native is collecting her second-career Women’s Outdoor Track Performer of the week honor (5/16/22, 4/26/21).
Co-Male Athletes of the Week – Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Performer of the Week
Cade Collier, University of Dubuque
Jr., LeClaire, Iowa/Pleasant Valley
- Collier of the Dubuque Spartans was named Most Valuable Field Performer at the A-R-C Outdoor Track and Field Championships this pasts weekend.
- The senior continued the great tradition of Spartan throwers by being named all-conference in all three of his events.
- Dubuque’s Collier found his way to the top of the podium in the shot put with a throw of 16.44 meters.
- In the hammer, Collier had a toss of 52.91 meters and his efforts claimed second place.
- He hurled the discus 48.30 meters to take his third-place spot, earning Collier all-conference.
- The LeClaire, Iowa native is collecting his fourth-career Men’s Outdoor Field Performer of the week accolade, all coming this season (5/16/22, 5/9/22, 5/2/22, 4/19/22).
Co-Male Athletes of the Week – Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Performer of the Week
Dallas Wright, Wartburg College
Sr., Carlisle, Iowa/Carlisle
- At the A-R-C Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Wright was named Men’s Most Valuable Track Performer for the second consecutive year, after being named Co-MVP a year ago.
- The senior reset the A-R-C Championship record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 46.87.
- Later in the day, Wright set an all-time A-R-C record in the 200-meter run, clocking a time of 21.09.
- The Carlisle native was also a member two relays for the Knights, finishing second in the 4-by-100-meter in a time of 40.69 and taking home the title in the 4-by-400-meter relay with a time of 3:14.89.
- The Wartburg senior was also crowned the A-R-C Men’s Indoor Most Valuable Track Performer.
- Wright is collecting his third-career Outdoor Track Performer of the Week accolade (5/16/22, 5/17/21, 5/10/21).
- The senior has two Indoor Track Performer of the Week honors to his name in his career (2/15/21, 2/17/20).
Baseball – Pitcher of the Week
TJ Deardorff, Coe College
Sr., RHP/INF, Dubuque, Iowa/Senior
- Deardorff helped lead the Kohawks to a 4-1 week, including the 2022 A-R-C Baseball Tournament title, earning the automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
- The senior utility player hurled a complete-game shutout over Luther in the first game of the A-R-C Tournament.
- The right-hander allowed just five hits and walked one, while striking out six batters.
- He held the Norse to a .167 batting average through the nine innings pitched.
- Deardorff improved his season record to 5-3 on the mound.
- In addition to his performance on the mound, Deardorff batted .353 on the week, collecting six hits, scoring four runs, and bringing five runs in.
- The Kohawks finished the regular season with a 21-19 overall record and 12-12 in league play.
- Deardorff was named the A-R-C Pitcher of the Year in 2021.
- The Dubuque native now has four Pitcher of the Week honors to his name (5/16/22, 5/17/21, 5/10/21, 3/22/21).
Baseball – Position Player of the Week
TJ Johnson, Coe College
Sr., P/INF, Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Prairie
- Johnson helped lead the Kohawks to a 4-1 week, including the 2022 A-R-C Baseball Tournament Title, earning the automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
- The senior utility player batted .524 on the week recording 11 hits, including a double and two triples.
- Game 1: Cornell 17, Coe 4 – 0-for-1 (.000), R, RBI, BB, HBP
- Game 2: Coe 3, Luther 0 – 2-for-5 (.400), 2 H, stolen base
- Game 3: Coe 13, Buena Vista 2 – 4-for-5 (.800), 2 R, 4 H, 2 RBI
- Game 4: Coe 11, Loras 3 – 2-for-5 (.400), 2 R, 2 H, 2 RBI, 2B, 3B
- Game 5: Wartburg 6, Coe 10 – 3-for-5 (.600), 2 R, 3 H, RBI, 3B
- On the week, Johnson held a .762 slugging percentage and .542 on-base percentage.
- The Kohawks finished the regular season with a 21-19 overall record and 12-12 in league play.
- Johnson is a two-time First-Team All-Conference performer.
- The Cedar Rapids native is collecting his fourth Position Player of the Week honor (5/16/22, 5/10/21, 4/22/19, 4/15/19) and also has two Pitcher of the Week accolades in his career (3/29/21, 3/8/21).
