CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The American Rivers Conference announced today the winter sport members of its 2021-22 All-Academic Team. As student-athletes have continued to be presented with athletic seasons like no other, their pursuit of academic achievement has continued. One hundred and twenty-five student-athletes from the Conference's three winter championship sports met the requirements for recognition.
To be eligible for All-Academic Team honors, a student-athlete must be on the eligibility list for the sports of nomination, at least a sophomore in academic standing with at least one year in residence and attain an accumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better (on a 4.0 scale).
Wartburg College led the way in total honorees with 18 student-athletes earning All-Academic recognition. University of Dubuque and Loras College each garnered 16 accolades, tying for the second highest total. Coe College and Simpson College followed closely behind with 14 honorees each. With 13 honorees, Nebraska Wesleyan University placed the sixth-highest total on this year's winter All-Academic team. Buena Vista University and Luther College placed 12 on the team, tying for the seventh-highest total, followed by Central College with 10.
Women's basketball led all sports with 53 honorees, including at least one from each school. Men's basketball was second with 42, followed by wrestling with 30.
