CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) announced that Loras College track & field athletes
Alyssa Pfadenhauer (West Burlington, Iowa/Danville) and
Kassie Parker (Buttenburg, Iowa/Clayton Ridge) and
Grace Alley (Seneca, Ill./Senec), Central track & field athlete
Brock Lewis (Lathrop, Mo./Lathrop), and Wartburg track & field athlete
Dallas Wright (Carlisle, Iowa/Carlisle) have been named American Rivers Conference Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 28, 2022. The Conference also announced Performers of the Week in baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s indoor track & field, softball, men’s tennis, and wrestling.
Co-Female Athlete of the Week - Women’s Indoor Track & Field – Co-Track Performer of the Week
Alyssa Pfadenhauer, Loras College
Jr., West Burlington, Iowa/Danville
- At the A-R-C Indoor Track & Field Championships, Pfadenhauer was named Co-Women’s Most Valuable Track Performer.
- She scored 32 points for the Duhawks, placing first in the 400-meter dash, 4x400-meter relay, second in the 200-meter dash, and third in the 60-meter dash.
- In the 400-meter dash, Pfadenhauer finished with a time of 56.02 which broke the facility record (57.19). She is currently ranked No. 1 in DII in this event.
- The Duhawks 4x400-meter relay crushed the championship record with a time of 3:48.75.
- She recorded times of 25.49 in the 200-meter dash (No. 15 in DIII) and 7.90 in the 60-meter dash to find herself on the podium, second and third respectively.
- She was a part of the Loras 4x400 squad who received Track Performer of the Week honors on 2/14/22.
- The West Burlington, Iowa native is collecting her first career Women’s Indoor Track Performer of the Week accolade.
Kassie Parker, Loras College
Sr., Guttenburg, Iowa/Clayton Ridge
- At the A-R-C Indoor Track & Field Championships, Parker was named Co-Women’s Most Valuable Track Performer.
- Parker’s efforts earned the Duhawks 30 team points, earning the title in all the events she participated in.
- She earned gold in the mile with at time of 4:59.63. Parker ranks No. 3 in DIII in this event.
- Breaking a championship record, the senior ran 9:42.59 in the 3000-meter run. The Duhawk has the top time in DIII which was previously recorded this season.
- Making her way to the top of the podium for the third time, she ran 17:20.81 in the 5000-meter run.
- The Guttenberg, Iowa native is picking up her fifth-career Women’s Indoor Track performer of the Week honor (2/28/22, 2/7/22, 1/24/22, 2/22/21, 3/2/20).
Co-Female Athlete of the Week – Women’s Indoor Track & Field – Field Performer of the Week
Grace Alley, Loras College
Jr., Seneca, Ill./Seneca
- Alley was named Women’s Most Valuable Field Performer this past weekend at the A-R-C Indoor Track & Field Championships.
- The junior took home the gold in the pentathlon (3365 points) and triple jump (11.79-meters).
- She ranks fifth in the DIII in the pentathlon (3531 points) and No. 4 in the triple jump (12.07-meters) with marks from earlier this season.
- Alley also found the podium in the high jump after tying for third place with a jump of 1.61-meters.
- Loras’ junior also scored in the long jump finishing eighth with a jump of 5.16-meters.
- The Seneca, Ill. Native is picking up her second-career Women’s Indoor Field Performer of the Week Honor (2/28/22, 12/13/21).
Co-Male Athlete of the Week – Men’s Indoor Track & Field – Track Performer of the Week
Dallas Wright, Wartburg College
Sr., Carlisle, Iowa/Carlisle
- At the A-R-C Indoor Track & Field Championships, Wright was named Men’s Most Valuable Track Performer.
- The senior was crowned the title in all three of his events: 60-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash, and 400-meter dash.
- In the 60-meter hurdles, Wright broke the facility record (8.27) with a time of 8.15 seconds.
- He defended his 2021 title taking the top spot on the podium in the 400-meter dash recording a time of 48.11.
- In the 200-meter dash, Wright picked up his third gold medal after running 21.62, breaking his own conference all-time record (21.67).
- The Carlisle, Iowa native is collecting his fourth-career Men’s Indoor Track Performer of the Week honor (2/28/22, 2/21/22, 2/15/21, 2/17/20).
Co-Male Athlete of the Week – Men’s Indoor Track & Field – Field Performer of the Week
Brock Lewis, Central College
Sr., Lathrop, Mo./Lathrop
- Lewis was named Men’s Most Valuable Field Performer this past weekend at the A-R-C Indoor Track & Field Championships.
- The senior took home gold in the men’s long jump with a leap of 7.30-meters.
- Lewis ranks No. 8 in DIII in long jump after his efforts at the championships.
- He also found the podium in the triple jump after jumping 13.91-meters and placing second.
- Lewis is collecting his fifth-career Men’s Indoor Field Performer of the Week honor and first of the season (2/28/22, 3/8/21, 3/1/21, 2/8/21, 2/10/20).
Baseball – Pitcher of the Week
Ethan Peters, Loras College
Sr., P, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Assumption
- Peters closed out both Duhawks’ games on Sunday, striking out four of the eight batters he faced in 2.0 innings pitched.
- Loras went 2-0 to start off their season with wins over Augustana (Ill.) (11-8) and Illinois College (6-2).
- In the two games, Peters allowed one run on two hits.
- The senior pitcher is a 2021 All-Conference performer.
- The Wisconsin Rapids native is picking up his first-career Pitcher of the Week accolade.
Baseball – Position Player of the Week
Charlie Rubendall, Luther College
Jr., SS, Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle
- Rubendall helped lead Luther to a double header sweep over Cornell College on Sunday in Topeka, Kansas.
- The junior shortstop was 7-of-10 from the plate with five RBIs, six runs scored, one double, and two triples.
- He also stole three bases in the two games.
- Game 1: Cornell 10, Luther 11 – 4-for-5 (.800), 2 R, 4 H, 3 RBI, 1 2B, 2 SB
- Game 2: Luther 18, Cornell 4 (F/7) – 3-for-5 (.600), 4 R, 3 H, 2 RBI, 2 3B, 1 SB
- Rubendall is a 2021 First-Team All-Conference performer.
- The Minneapolis native is collecting his first-career Position Player of the Week accolde in a Norse uniform.
Men’s Basketball – Player of the Week
Peter Ragen, University of Dubuque
Gr., F, Orland Park, Ill./Joliet Catholic
- Graduate student Peter Ragen averaged 15.5 points per game throughout the conference tournament, en route to the Spartan’s 2022 A-R-C Men’s Basketball Tournament Title.
- Ragen recorded a 16 point, eight rebound performance in the semifinal win over Loras (78-58).
- In the championship game victory over Buena Vista (71-52), Ragen added 15 points and 14 rebounds.
- In the two tournament games, Ragen averaged a double-double with 15.5 points and 11 rebounds per game.
- He also shot 100% (12-of-12) from the free throw line and 38% from behind the arc on the week.
- The Spartans collected their second-consecutive Conference title.
- Ragen was named league MVP after his performance in the 2020-21 season.
- The Orland Park, Illinois native is collecting his third Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor (2/28/22, 3/15/21, 2/1/21).
Women’s Basketball – Player of the Week
Cameron Kincaid, Simpson College
Sr., F, Olathe, Kan./Olathe East
- In the two games of the 2022 A-R-C tournament, Kincaid averaged 19 points per game, collected 11 rebounds, tallied five assists, and shot 11-for-12 from the free throw line.
- Kincaid scored 12 points in the first half of Simpson’s semifinal win over Luther (106-75).
- The senior forward added 26 points and had all 11 rebounds in the championship win over Wartburg (62-59).
- Kincaid shot 54% (13-of-24) from the floor and 92% (1-of-2) from behind the arc on the week.
- The Storm won their eighth A-R-C tournament in program history.
- Kincaid is a two-time All-Conference performer in addition to being named 2018-19 honorable mention.
- The Olathe, Kansas native is picking up her third-career Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honor (2/28/22, 1/17/22, 1/25/21).
Softball – Pitcher Player of the Week
Ashlyn Hemm, Loras College
Fr., P, Port Byron, Ill./Riverdale
- Loras freshman pitcher helped lead the Duhawks to a 4-0 week with victories over Knox (8-0 – 5 inn.), Edgewood (6-0), Lawrence (16-0 – 5 inn.), and Elmhurst (3-1).
- Hemm pitched 19.0 innings allowing just one run and three hits.
- On the week, Hemm recorded 44 strikeouts and only four walks while holding opponents to a 0.53 batting average.
- Game 1: Knox 0 – Loras – 8 (F/5) – GS, W (1-0), 4.0 IP, 1 BB, 12 K, 13 batters faced.
- Game 2: Loras 6, Edgewood 0 – GS, W (2-0), 5.0 IP, 3 BB, 8 K, 17 batters faced.
- Game 3: Lawrence 0, Loras 16 (F/5) – GS, W (3-0), 3.0 IP, 9 K, 9 batters faced.
- Game 4: Loras 3, Elmhurst 1 – GS, W (4-0), CG, 3 H, 1 R, 15 K, .130 BAA, 24 batters faced.
- Hemm is collecting her first-career Pitcher of the week honor.
Softball – Position Player of the Week
Maddie Luderman, Simpson College
Jr., C/3B, Bellevue, Neb./Bellevue East
- The Storm opened their season with a 2-1 weekend with wins over Austin (14-2) and Dallas (8-5) and loss to Dallas (3-6).
- The junior utility player batted .700 on the weekend with nine RBIs and two home runs.
- Game 1: Simpson 14, Austin 2 (F/6) – 2-for-4 (.500), 2 H, 2 RBI, 5-putouts
- Game 2: Simpson 3, Dallas 6 – 3-for-4 (.750), 2 R, 3 H, 4 RBI, 1 HR
- Game 3: Simpson 8, Dallas 5 – 2-for-2 (1.000), 1 R, 2 H, 3 RBI, 1 HR, 1 BB, 7-putouts
- Luderman is picking up her first-career Position Player of the Week honor.
Men’s Tennis – Player of the Week
Bo Wilson, Coe College
Sr., Sugar Land, Texas/Stephen F. Austin
- The Kohawks went 3-0 on the week defeating Millikin (8-1), Loras (9-0) and Augustana (8-1).
- Wilson was a perfect 2-0 on the week defeating Millikin’s Theodor Wolf 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 Singles and Augustana’s Deepak Vayara 7-6, 6-2 at No. 3 Singles.
- In doubles play at No. 1 with his partner Rami Hemaidan, the duo went 3-0 defeating Wolf and Cole Phillips of Millikin (8-2), Thomas Kampmier and Kevin Blomquist of Loras (8-3), and Leonardo Panosso and Vayara of Augustana (8-3).
- The Kohawks improved to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in league play.
- Wilson is a 2021 All-Conference Singles and Doubles performer.
- The Sugar Land, Texas native is collecting his third-career Men’s Tennis Player of the Week accolade (2/28/22, 4/5/21, 4/29/19).
Wrestling – Wrestler of the Week
Zayren Terukina, Wartburg College
Jr., 141lbs., Ewa beach, Hawaii/James Campbell
- Terukina was the first place finsher at 141lbs at the Lower Midwest Regional on February 25-26.
- In the first round the junior has a fall over Cornell College’s Keegan Schultshik (0:50).
- He won by decision (3-2) in a close match with Zach Steward of Simpson College in the second round.
- During the semifinal round, Terukina won by decision over Jake Dado of the University of the Ozarks 7-0.
- Terukina was able to avenge his only loss of the season to No. 3-ranked Javen Estrada with an 8-4 decision.
- The Ewa Beach, Hawaii native is garnering his second-career Wrestler of the Week honor (2/28/22, 1/31/22).
