CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The 2022 American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Volleyball Tournament saw No. 1-seed and national ranked No. 21 Coe (27-5, 8-0 A-R-C) take down No. 3-seed Buena Vista (13-12, 5-3 A-R-C) 3-1 from Kohawk Arena on the campus of Coe College.
This year’s Coe Kohawks were looking to be tournament champions for the first time since 2014, and that was accomplished this evening. The Kohawks took both the regular season and conference tournament titles this year. This marks the program’s second conference tournament title in program history (2014, 2022). Tonight’s title also earns Coe the league’s automatic qualifier for the 2022 NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament. This win marks the third NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach
DeAnn Akins and in program history (2006, 2014, 2022).
Coe left no doubts on the court tonight, walking away champions.
Madi Parson led the way for the Kohawks with 18 digs, 8 kills, and 3 service aces.
Maddy Maahs allowed the Kohawk offense to do what it has been doing all year as she tallied 44 assists on the evening.
Kate Tidman added 14 kills and
Grace Lueken tacked on an additional 11 kills for Coe.
Rachel Brockney led the Beavers with 17 kills and 15 digs in the championship match.
Regional play of the NCAA Division III Tournament takes place November 11, 2022 - November 13, 2022, at eight, to be determined, campus sites. The tournament finals will take place on November 16, 2022 - November 19, 2022 at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, hosted by Saint Vincent College and SportsPITTSBURGH. The selection show takes place on Monday, November 7 at 12:00 p.m. CST when Coe will learn their initial postseason destination.
