Simpson's Kincaid Named American Rivers Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) announced that Buena Vista University men’s basketball player Garrett Sittner (Juniata, Neb./Adams Central) and Loras College women’s track & field athlete Marion Edwards (Chicago, Ill./De la Salle Institute) have been named American Rivers Conference Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, January 16, 2022. The Conference also announced Performers of the Week in men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s indoor track & field, and wrestling.

Female Athlete of the Week - Women’s Indoor Track & Field – Track Performer of the Week16852
Marion Edwards, Loras College
Jr., Chicago, Ill./De la Salle Institute
  • The Duhawks won the Battle of the Hive at St. Ambrose on Saturday, Jan. 15 with 150 team points.
  • Edwards was crowned winner of the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes.
  • She ran 7.76 in the 60-meter dash, which is .03 off of her Division III leading performance.
  • The junior ran a personal best of 25.61 in the 200-meter dash, which ranks second in the nation and third all-time for the Duhawks.
  • She also competed on the 4x400-meter relay team which improved on its nation-leading time to win the race in 3:56:81.
  • The Chicago, Ill. Native is picking up her second-career Women’s Indoor Track Performer of the Week honor (1/17/22, 12/13/21).

Male Athlete of the Week – Men’s Basketball – Player of the Week16928
Garrett Sittner, Buena Vista University
Sr., G, Juniata, Neb./Adams Central
  • Sittner helped lead the Beavers to a 2-0 week with victories over Central (86-70) and Wartburg (88-84).
  • He scored 13 points and added five rebounds and three assists in the win over Central College.
  • Sittner recorded a career-high 38 points, including five three-point makes.
  • The senior guard went 9-of-9 in free throws in the win over the Knights, including two in the final seconds to secure the Beavers win.
  • Sittner averaged 25.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game during the two conference contests.
  • On the week, he shot 53.3% from the field and 13-of-13 from the line.
  • The Beavers improved to 9-8 overall and 6-2 in A-R-C play.
  • Sittner is a 2020-21 honorable mention all-conference performer.
  • The Juniata, Nebraska native is collecting his first-career Men’s Basketball Player of the Week accolade.

Women’s Basketball – Player of the Week16931
Cameron Kincaid, Simpson College
Sr., F, Olathe, Kan./Olathe East
  • Kincaid helped lead the No. 5/7-ranked Storm to a 2-0 week in conference play with wins over Nebraska Wesleyan (94-54) and Dubuque (97-59).
  • She recorded five rebounds and three steals while scoring 13 points in the victory over the Prairie Wolves.
  • Kincaid tied her career-high 26 points in the win over the Spartans.
  • On the week, she shot 56% from the floor and went a perfect 18-of-18 from the line.
  • The No. 5/7-ranked Storm improved to 14-1 overall and 6-0 in A-R-C play.
  • Kincaid is a two-time All-Conference performer in addition to being named 2018-19 honorable mention.
  • The Olathe, Kansas native is picking up her second-career Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honor (1/17/22, 1/25/21).

Women’s Indoor Track & Field – Field Performer of the Week16929
Becca Simpson, Buena Vista
Sr., Plattsmouth, Neb./Conestoga
  • Buena Vista competed at the Central Dutch Athletic Classic on Saturday, Jan. 15 where the Beavers finished first with 162 team points, escaping second place by two points.
  • Simpson took home first place out of 19 throwers in the weight throw with a toss of 16.88m, which took the school record for the Beavers.
  • The senior was also crowned the winner of shot put after throwing 12.66m.
  • She currently sits fourth in the A-R-C in shot put and second in weight throw.
  • At the Division III level, Simpson is ranked fourth in the weight throw and 18th in shot put.
  • This is Simpson’s second-career Indoor Field Performer of the Week honor (1/17/22, 3/1/21).

Men’s Indoor Track & Field – Field Performer of the Week16850
Ryan Rogers, Loras College
Sr., Dubuque, Iowa/Wahlert Catholic
  • The Duhawks won the Battle of the Hive at St. Ambrose on Saturday, Jan. 15 with 136 team points.
  • Rogers took home first place in the pole vault, tying his career best 4.92 meters, which is ranked third in Division III.
  • He won the long jump with a jump of 7.14 meters, just .01m off his personal best which ranks fourth nationally.
  • The senior currently has three top-five marks in Division III.
  • Rogers is collecting his fifth-career Men’s Indoor Field Performer of the Week honors (1/17/22, 12/13/21, 2/22/21, 3/2/20, 12/9/13).

Men’s Indoor Track & Field – Track Performer of the Week16932
Josh Smith, Loras College
Jr., Dolton, Ill./Marian Catholic
  • The Duhawks won the Battle of the Hive at St. Ambrose on Saturday, Jan. 15 with 136 team points.
  • Smith won the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes this weekend.
  • The junior posted an impressive 6.86 in the 60m dash which ranks fifth in Division III.
  • He also ranks third in the nation after his 200m dash performance of 22.13.
  • His performances hold the fastest times in the conference in both events.
  • This marks Smith’s second Men’s Indoor Track Performer of the Week honor (1/17/22, 1/27/20).

Wrestling – Wrestler of the Week16930
Donovan Corn, Luther College
Sr., 197lbs., Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton
  • The Norse finished second (155 points) at the Cliff Keen Mike Duroe Invitational hosted by Cornell College Saturday, January 15.
  • Corn was crowned champion after going 3-0 on the day.
  • He defeated Loras’ Richard Hunter by fall (1:38) in the first match.
  • In the semifinal, Corn defeated Parker Venz of Augsburg by fall (2:41).
  • In the final match of the day, Corn defeated No. 9-ranked Bently Schwanebeck-Ostermann of Augsburg (5-2).
  • The Chandler, Arizona native is a 2021 All-Conference honoree.
  • This is Corn’s first-career Wrestler of the Week honor.
