CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) announced that Loras College football player
Noah Sigwarth (Dubuque, Iowa/Wahlert Catholic) and Loras College volleyball player
Lyndsi Wilgenbusch (Epworth, Iowa/Western Dubuque) have been named American Rivers Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, September 19, 2021. The Conference also announced Performers of the Week in men’s and women’s cross country, football, women’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer, women’s tennis, and volleyball.
Female Athlete of the Week - Volleyball – Offensive Player of the Week
Lyndsi Wilgenbusch, Loras College
Sr., Pin, Epworth, Iowa/Western Dubuque
- Wilgenbusch helped lead the Duhawks to a 4-0 week, bringing their overall record to 10-1.
- Loras defeated Dubuque (3-0), Westminster (Mo.) (3-1), St. Scholastica (3-0), and Saint Mary’s (Minn.) (3-1).
- The senior tallied 66 kills in the four-game span.
- Wilgenbusch had a career-best 24 kills against Saint Mary’s (Minn.).
- She finished with a .365 hitting percentage over the four games.
- The Epworth, Iowa native is collecting her first-career Offensive Player of the Week award.
Male Athlete of the Week – Football – Offensive Player of the Week
Noah Sigwarth, Loras College
Sr., QB, Dubuque, Iowa/Wahlert Catholic
- Sigwarth led the Duhawks to a 55-34 win over Buena Vista in their first conference matchup.
- The Dubuque, Iowa native threw for six touchdowns, which ranks second all-time in single game records at Loras.
- He had 395 passing yards which ranks fourth in single game records in program history.
- Sigwarth rushed for two touchdowns.
- Loras finished with 586 yards of total offense.
- This is Sigwarth’s second-career Offensive Player of the Week honor (9/20/21, 3/29/21).
Men’s Cross Country – Runner of the Week
Ryan Harvey, Loras College
So., Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin
- Harvey placed eleventh out of 152 runners with a time of 25:51.3 at the National Catholic Championship, hosted by University of Notre Dame.
- He was the top Division III finisher at the meet.
- The No.15 ranked Duhawks finished as the top-Division III program finishing in third place.
- The Bartlett, Illinois native is garnering his first-career Runner of the Week honors.
Women’s Cross Country – Runner of the Week
Kassie Rosenbum, Loras College
Sr., Guttenberg, Iowa/Clayton Ridge
- Rosenbum finished sixth out of 173 runners with a time of 17:50.7 at the National Catholic Championships, hosted by University of Notre Dame.
- She was the top Division III finisher behind five Notre Dame runners.
- The No.34 ranked Duhawks finished sixth of 15 teams, as the top Division III program.
- Rosenbum is a two-time All-American, three-time All-Conference performer, and two-time Academic All-Conference.
- This is Rosenbum’s tenth Runner of the Week award in her Duhawk career (9/20/21, 9/13/21, 10/26/20, 10/13/20, 9/28/20, 9/14/20, 10/21/19, 10/7/19, 9/23/19, 9/2/19).
Football – Defensive Player of the Week
Jack Foley, Loras College
Sr., DB, Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic
- In the 2021 conference opener, Loras collected a 55-34 win over Buena Vista.
- Senior defensive back, Jack Foley made seven tackles, including six solo stops.
- Foley had one tackle for loss, one pass break-up, and one interception.
- The Rockford, Illinois native is garnering his second-career Defensive Player of the Week honor (9/20/21, 11/11/19).
Football – Special Teams Player of the Week
Evan Ellis, Coe College
Sr., K, Peosta, Iowa/Western Dubuque
- Ellis was 6-for-6 on his PAT attempts in the Kohawks 42-22 win over Simpson.
- He had six punts for a total of 284 yards with the longest being 58-yards.
- The Peosta, Iowa native averaged 47.33 yards per punt with two punts traveling over 50-yards.
- Ellis had three punts that were downed inside the twenty-yard line.
- The Kohawk senior earned All-Conference honors in 2019.
- This is Ellis’ second-career Special Teams Player of the Week honor (09/20/21, 10/1/17).
Women’s Golf – Golfer of the Week
Megan Tanghe, Coe College
So., East Moline, Ill./Alleman
- Tanghe earned a runner-up finish at the Luther Fall Invite with a score of 80-78-158 (+14).
- She finished just five shots behind first place.
- The Kohawks finished 3rd of five teams with a score of 350-344-694 (+118).
- The East Moline, Illinois native is earning her second-career Golfer of the Week honors (9/20/21, 9/13/21).
Men’s Soccer – Defensive Player of the Week
Connor Fitzpatrick, Loras College
Sr., GK, Eugene, Ore./Marist
- Fitzpatrick helped the Duhawks to a 2-0 week with a 4-0 win over Monmouth and a 4-0 win over Millikin.
- He had a total of four saves, leading to his first two career shutouts.
- Fitzpatrick played in all 180-minutes on the week.
- Loras has an overall record of 5-1-1.
- This is Fitzpatrick’s first-career Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Men’s Soccer – Offensive Player of the Week
Alex Beausoleil, Loras College
Jr., F, Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North
- Beausoleil scored a career-best two goals Saturday against Millikin, bringing his total to three goals on the season.
- The Duhawks beat Monmouth 4-0 and Millikin 4-0.
- Beausoleil converted on two of his five shots on the week.
- The Wheaton, Illinois native notched four points in 90 minutes played.
- This is Beausoleil’s first-career Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player of the Week
Payton McDonnell, Loras College
Jr., MF, Arlington Heights, Ill./St. Viator
- McDonnell helped the Duhawks to a 2-0 week with a 1-0 win over North Central (Ill.) and a 3-2 win over Illinois Wesleyan.
- She helped the Duhawks hold the opponents to two goals on the week.
- She also tallied two assists in the win over Illinois Wesleyan.
- McDonnell sits in third all-time in Loras Women’s Soccer history in career assists after this week.
- The Duhawks have an overall record of 6-0-1.
- The Arlington Heights, Illinois native is a two-time All-Conference Performer.
- This is McDonnell’s second-career Defensive Player of the Week award (9/20/21, 10/28/19).
Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player of the Week
Joy Smith, Wartburg College
Sr., F, Polk City, Iowa/Homeschooled
- Smith notched a hat-trick with three goals in the Knights 4-1 over UW-Eau Claire.
- She also had a goal in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Augsburg.
- The senior converted on four of her five shots on the week.
- The Polk City, Iowa native played in 114 minutes over the two-match span.
- Smith is a two-time All-Conference performer.
- Smith is picking up her third-career Offensive Player of the Week honor (9/20/21, 4/26/21, 9/16/19).
Women’s Tennis – Player of the Week
Madison Schultz, Coe College
Fr., Jasper, Ga./James Madison
- Schultz went a perfect 4-0 over the weekend in the No. 1 slot singles and doubles.
- In the No. 1 slot singles, Schultz defeated Buena Vista’s Nicole Lange 6-0, 6-0 and Nebraska Wesleyan’s Brooke Sailer 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
- In the No. 1 slot doubles, Schultz and Emma Lassen defeated Lexie Bruns and Gabby Kardell of Buena Vista 8-1.
- Schultz and Lassen also defeated Brooke Sailer and Ella Ford of Nebraska Wesleyan 8-6.
- The Kohawks knocked off Buena Vista 9-0 and Nebraska Wesleyan 8-1.
- The Jasper, Georgia native is picking up her first-career Player of the week award.
Volleyball – Defensive Player of the Week
Katie Foster, Wartburg College
Sr., Libero, Charles City, Iowa/Charles City
- Foster helped lead the Knights to a 4-0 week, bringing their overall record to 12-0.
- The Wartburg libero tallied 86 digs over the four matches.
- In Wartburg’s conference opener 3-1 win over Buena Vista, Foster tallied 19 digs.
- The senior added 29 digs in the Knights’ 3-0 win over UW-La Crosse.
- Additionally, Wartburg swept Hamline (3-0) and Elmhurst (3-0).
- Foster is a four-time All-Conference performer, two-time Defensive Player of the Year, 2019 Most Valuable Player, and 2017 Freshman of the Year.
