CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The American Rivers Conference announced today the winter sport members of its 2020-21 All-Academic Team. As student-athletes have continued to be presented with athletic seasons like no other, their pursuit of academic achievement has continued. One hundred and sixteen student-athletes from the Conference's three winter championship sports met the requirements for recognition.
To be eligible for All-Academic Team honors a student-athlete must be on the eligibility list for the sport of nomination, at least a sophomore in academic standing with at least one year in residence and attain an accumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better (on a 4.0 scale).
Simpson College led the way in total honorees with 17 student-athletes earning All-Academic recognition. Loras College and Wartburg College each garnered 16 accolades, tying for the second highest total. Coe and Central followed closely behind with 15 and 14 honorees, respectively, for the fourth and fifth highest totals. With 11 honorees, University of Dubuque placed the sixth-highest total on this year's winter All-Academic team. Buena Vista University placed 10 on the team for the seventh-highest total, followed by Luther with 9 and Nebraska Wesleyan with eight.
Women's basketball led all sports with 62 honorees, including at least one from each school. Men's basketball was second with 33, followed by wrestling with 21.
