Loras Travels to Greensboro to Compete in the Final Four of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 9-ranked Loras College Duhawks (21-0-2) are traveling to Greensboro, North Carolina as one of the final four teams competing in the 2021 NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Tournament. The final four teams include No. 1 The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), No. 5 Christopher Newport University, and No. 14 Wesleyan University.
 
The Duhawks are entering into the Final Four for the first time in program history. In the first round of the NCAA tournament, the Duhawks defeated the Griffins from Fontbonne University (15-3-2) in a 1-0 decision. Loras moved on to the second round and faced Calvin University (14-4-1), defeating the Knights by a score of 3-0. In the round of sixteen, the Duhawks defeated No.13 Centre College (17-2-2) by a score of 2-0. In the quarterfinals, Loras squared off with a solid squad from Wisconsin-La Crosse (16-4-4) out of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC), a match that would ultimately be decided in penalty kicks.
 
Loras College will be taking on Christopher Newport (20-0-1) in the Final Four. This will be the first time that these two teams will have met. The Captains earned the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Tournament. Christopher Newport has made it into the NCAA Tournament 12 times in program history, and it’s the second time in three years the Captains have made it to the National Semifinals.
 
The battle of the unbeatens, Loras College and Christopher Newport University will kickoff Friday, December 3 at 10:00 a.m. CST at the UNCG Soccer Stadium on the campus of University of North Carolina Greensboro. Immediately following, No. 1 TCNJ will face No. 14 Wesleyan University at 12:45 p.m. CST. The winner of each contest will see each other in the 2021 NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer National Championship on Saturday, December 4 at 1:30 p.m. CST.
