Loras' Parker Wins National Title; Four From A-R-C Earn All-American Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After claiming the conference champion in October, Loras College junior, Kassie Parker, claimed the individual national title on the women’s side. She finished the 6,000-meter course in Louisville in an impressive 20 minutes and 11.1 seconds, setting an NCAA Division III course record. Parker was 17.5 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher to claim the national title and her third-career All-America honor. Parker’s national title is the first in the Loras women’s cross country program.
 
The Wartburg women’s cross country team had an impressive fourth-place finish at the 2021 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, hosted by Spalding University at the E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park. The Wartburg men’s team finished 9th, to lead the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) at the race. The Loras men’s team finished 29th to round out the A-R-C teams at the championships.
 
On the men’s side, the A-R-C’s top finisher was Wartburg’s Joe Freiburger. The conference champion, Freiburger finished 8th with a time of 23 minutes and 58.7 seconds in the 8,000-meter course in Louisville. The senior finished 31 seconds behind the national champion.
 
For the Knights, the full scoring list included Morgan Shirley-Fairbairn (55th, 43pts., 24:32.6), Dalton Martin (76th, 61pts., 24:40.4), Christopher Collet (80th, 63pts., 24:41.8), Alec Ille (177th, 132pts., 25:17.2), Matt Heinzman (203rd, 150pts., 25:33.0), and Sam Pinkowski (245th, 182pts., 25:51.0).
 
For the Wartburg women, the full scoring list included Aubrie Fisher (6th, 4pts., 21:00.0), Riley Mayer (27th, 25pts., 21:38.4), Carina Collet (43rd, 38pts., 21:51.4), Lexi Brown (61st, 52pts., 22:06.8), Shaelyn Hostager (71st, 60pts., 22:10.9), Trinity Borland (99th, 82pts., 22:26.9), and Natalie Paulson (116th, 95pts., 22:33.9).
 
Joining Parker as All-Americans on the women’s side (top 40 in the race) were Wartburg’s Fisher and Mayer. Freiburger was the only All-American on the men’s side.
