Sioux City, Iowa --- The American Rivers Conference Women's Tennis Individual Tournament took place at three sites in Sioux City, Iowa over the past two days, with 99 student-athletes competing in the event. Medals were awarded in A, B, and C Singles, and in A and B Doubles. The event put a cap on the fall season for the A-R-C women's tennis teams.
The A-Singles final featured an all-Luther match between the third seed,
Shelby Cook, and unseeded,
Renata Martinez. Cook jumped out to the early lead with a 7-5 win in the first set. Martinez reversed the script in set two, winning 7-5. She used that momentum to take a thrilling super breaker, 10-8. Martinez advanced to the title bout with a 6-2, 6-1 win over the No. 8 seed
Bronwyn Metcalf of Central in the semifinals. Cook punched her ticket to the finals with a 6-4, 6-1 semifinal victory over Wartburg’s seventh-seeded
Meadow LaDuke. In the battle for third, Metcalf defeated LaDuke 6-3, 6-2 to earn bronze.

Alyssa Lewton, seeded No.4 in the draw, took the gold-medal match in A-Doubles, defeating unseeded
Lexi Hastings / Martinez of Luther, 8-3. Hartley / Lewton had beaten Simpson’s top-seeded duo of

Emily King in the semifinals (8-6), while Hastings / Martinez defeated teammates Cook /
Natalia Smith in the other semi (8-3). Cook / Smith, the No. 2 seeds, then beat Wanek / King in a tightly contested third-place match, 8-6.
The B-Singles top honor went to Loras’
Clair Moore, who was seeded third in the flight. She outlasted teammate and No. 6 seed
Sara Backus, 8-2. Moore was a semifinal winner over
Jalen DenHartog of Luther (6-2, 6-4). Backus defeated
Sydney Clausen of Luther 6-3, 6-2 in the other semi. DenHartog then beat her teammate for third place by scores of 6-3, 5-7, and 11-9 in the super breaker.
The B-Doubles gold went to Loras’

Macy Scharff earned the gold medal in the C-Singles competition. She defeated
Sydney Stout of Wartburg in the final by scores of 6-4, 6-1. Scharff beat
Linnea Wolle of Luther in the semifinal round (6-7 (6), 6-4, 10-0). Stout won her semifinal match over
Jennifer Larson of Central by scores of 6-3, 6-1. The third-place match then went to Wolle, 6-3, 6-4.
