CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The American Rivers Conference announced that Loras College women’s basketball player
Marissa Schroeder (Bellevue, Iowa/Marquette Catholic) and Central College men’s basketball player
Adam Flinn (Lafayette, Mo./Wildwood) have been named American Rivers Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, December 2, 2019.
Female Athlete of the Week – Women’s Basketball – Player of the Week
Marissa Schroeder, Loras College
Jr., F, Bellevue, Iowa/Marquette Catholic
- Schroeder helped the No. 17/24-ranked Duhawks go 2-0 last week, improving their record to 6-0 on the season.
- The junior combined for 32 points in the Loras wins over Central and the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE).
- She dropped 15 points against the Dutch, in the team’s first conference game of the season – the Duhawks winning 88-72.
- The Bellevue, Iowa native recorded three of the team’s 20 steals in the 92-30 win over MSOE on Saturday.
- In the MSOE game, Schroeder scored 15 points in 12 minutes on the court, going 7-9 from the field and a perfect 3-3 from the free throw line.
- The junior has helped guide the Duhawk’s to the program’s first ever D3hoops.com ranking, on Monday, November 25.
- Schroeder is collecting her fourth career Player of the Week accolade (12/2/19, 2/18/19, 2/4/19, 2/18/18).
Male Athlete of the Week - Men’s Basketball – Player of the Week
Adam Flinn, Central College
Jr., G, Lafayette, Mo./Wildwood
- Flinn dropped a career-high 37 points in the conference opener against Loras.
- He added 17 points in the 89-79 overtime win over Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.).
- The junior shot 58% from the field last week.
- Flinn also shot an impressive 62% from 3-point range (8-13).
- The Lafayette, Mo. native shot 8-10 from the free throw line, as the Dutch went 1-1 last week.
- This is Flinn’s first career Player of the Week award.
