Luther's Feldpausch, NWU's Navratil Named American Rivers Conference Athletes of the Week

Performers of the Week Announced in Six Sports

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The American Rivers Conference announced that Nebraska Wesleyan women’s basketball player Caitlin Navratil (Littleton, Colo./Dakota Ridge) and Luther College wrestler Keenan Feldpausch (Eldridge, Iowa/North Scott) have been named American Rivers Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sunday, November 17, 2019. The Conference also announced Performers of the Week in men’s and women’s basketball, football, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, and wrestling.

 
Female Athlete of the Week – Women’s Basketball – Player of the Week12797
Caitlin Navratil, Nebraska Wesleyan University
Sr., G, Littleton, Colo./Dakota Ridge
  • Navratil scored 59 points in two games this weekend, as the Prairie Wolves went 1-1.
  • The senior opened the season with 22 points in their game against Grinnell.
  • She scored 37 points in the 79-71 win over McMurry (Texas), second highest single game total in NWU women’s basketball history.
  • On the weekend, she averaged 5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 3 steals per game.
  • The Littleton, Colo. native shot 16-19 from the free throw line.
  • This is the senior’s second career Female Athlete of the Week award (11/18/19, 11/26/18).

 
Male Athlete of the Week – Wrestling – Wrestler of the Week12803
Keenan Feldpausch, Luther College
Sr., 285lbs., Eldridge, Iowa/North Scott
  • Feldpausch started his season out strong by winning the 285 lbs. title at the Luther Open in the Elite Division, which included four wins.
  • He opened the tournament with a fall over Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Dylan Uzumecki in 3:52.
  • The senior would then go on to defeat Division II opponent Jordan Baumler of Upper Iowa 6-2.
  • Feldpausch would cap of the tournament knocking of the University of Iowa’s Aaron Costello in a 9-5 decision.
  • This is the senior’s first career Wrestler of the Week and Male Athlete of the Week honor.


Men’s Basketball – Player of the Week12802
Nate Schimonitz, Nebraska Wesleyan University
Sr., G, Omaha, Neb./Creighton Prep
  • Schimonitz averaged 30.5 points in Nebraska Wesleyan’s two wins this past weekend.
  • The senior had a career high of 35 points on 13-18 shooting against McMurry (Texas).
  • Ended with a double-double against McMurry – 35 points and 10 assists, his second double-double of the season.
  • Scored 26 points the next day against then unbeaten Hardin-Simmons (Texas), shooting 68% from the field with 14 assists.
  • The Omaha, Neb. native is leading the conference in scoring early this season with 151 points scored, averaging 30.2 points/game.
  • This is the seventh Player of the Week honor for Schimonitz (11/18/19, 11/11/19, 11/26/18, 11/19/18, 2/25/18, 2/11/18, 2/5/17).

 
Football – Defensive Player of the Week12804
Antonio Santillan, Wartburg College
So., LB, Davenport, Iowa/Assumption
  • Santillan led all tacklers with 13 in Wartburg’s 48-7 home victory over Loras.
  • The Knights win clinched a share of the conference title, the third straight year for Wartburg.
  • The sophomore also recovered two Loras fumbles, forcing one of the fumbles himself.
  • The Davenport, Iowa native also tallied a sack and a pass break up in the win.
  • Wartburg will face Hope College (Mich.) in the first round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs this upcoming Saturday in Holland, Michigan.
  • This is Santillan’s first career Defensive Player of the Week award.

 
Football – Offensive Player of the Week12805
Dwayne Allen Jr., University of Dubuque
Sr., RB, Hampshire, Ill./St. Edward Central Catholic
  • Allen rushed for 152 yards in Dubuque’s 42-7 road win at Nebraska Wesleyan.
  • Recorded one rushing touchdown in the Spartans’ win.
  • The senior became Dubuque’s all-time rushing leader with 3,086 career yards on the ground.
  • The Hampshire, Ill. native was hampered by injuries this season, missing three games but still found a way to break the school’s rushing record.
  • This is Allen’s third career Offensive Player of the Week honor (11/18/19, 9/9/19, 10/15/17).

 
Football – Special Teams Player of the Week12806
Nick Deppe, Wartburg College
Jr., P, Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South
  • Deppe totaled four punts in the game against Loras in the 48-7 Wartburg win.
  • His punts combined for 185 yards, averaging 46.2 yards per punt.
  • The junior downed two of his four punts inside the 20, winning Wartburg the field position battle.
  • The highlight of Deppe’s day was a career-long 69-yard punt.
  • This is the Plainfield, Ill. native’s first career Special Teams Player of the Week honor.

Men’s Swimming & Diving – Performer of the Week12807
Danny Turner, Simpson College
Fr., Panora, Iowa/Loveland
  • Turner won three events this weekend in a meet against Tabor (Kan.) and University of Saint Mary.
  • The freshman won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:08.24, a time that won by nine seconds.
  • He won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.23 winning by five seconds.
  • He would finish out the meet by winning the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.94.
  • All three times are season bests for the Panora, Iowa native.
  • This is Turner’s first career Performer of the Week award.

 
Women’s Swimming & Diving – Performer of the Week12549
Makenzie Delgado, Nebraska Wesleyan University
So., Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln East
  • Delgado finished first in four events in the two meets against Coe this past weekend, November 15 and 16.
  • The sophomore finished first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:02.57.
  • She went on to win the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:31.17.
  • The Lincoln, Neb. native completed the freestyle sweep by winning the 1000 freestyle (11:21.63).
  • She was also a member of the 1st place finishing 200 medley relay team for the Prairie Wolves.
  • Delgado is winning her second consecutive Performer of the Week honor, and third career time (11/18/19, 11/4/19, 10/22/18).
