CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The American Rivers Conference announced today the fall sport members of its 2019 All-Academic Team. Four hundred and thirty-eight student-athletes from the Conference's eight fall championship sports met the requirements for recognition.
To be eligible for All-Academic Team honors a student-athlete must be on the eligibility list for the sport of nomination, at least a sophomore in academic standing with at least one year in residence and attain an accumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better (on a 4.0 scale).
Wartburg College led the way in total honorees with 74 student-athletes earning All-Academic recognition. Luther College placed the second-highest total on the fall team with 58. Loras College and Nebraska Wesleyan University each placed 54 on the team for the third-highest total. With 53 honorees each, Central College and the University of Dubuque saw the fifth-most award winners. Simpson College placed 52 student-athletes on the team for the seventh-highest total, followed by Buena Vista University with 23 and Coe College with 17.
Women's soccer led all sports with 83 honorees, including at least five from each school. Football was second with 73. Men's Soccer narrowly edge out Women's Cross Country for the third-most honorees at 67 and 60, respectively. Men's Cross Country saw 56 student-athletes collect All-Academic accolades, while volleyball earned 50. Women's Tennis placed 30 on the All-Academic team and Women's Golf rounded out the fall sports honorees with 20.
