Athletes of the Week & Weekly Report Announced by A-R-C - April 6, 2026

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) announced that Wartburg College softball student-athlete Katelyn Klever and Central College golfer student-athlete Carter Yurgae have been named American Rivers Conference Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 5, 2026. The A-R-C weekly awards are nominated and voted on by the league’s sports information departments. The conference office then selects the female and male athletes of the week based upon sport performers of the week. 


Female Athlete of the Week - Softball - Pitcher of the Week - Katelyn Klever (Polk City, Iowa/North Polk), Wartburg College

  • Klever recorded her first career complete game in the circle with a 11-3 win over Nebraska Wesleyan. 

  • She picked up two wins in three appearances to move to 6-3 overall. 

  • She helped lead the Knights to a 3-1 week in conference action, after sweeping No. 12 nationally ranked Simpson earlier in the week and splitting with Nebraska Wesleyan on Friday. 


Male Athlete of the Week - Men’s Golf - Golfer of the Week - Carter Yurgae (Des Moines, Iowa/Dowling Catholic), Central College

  • Yurgae competed at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational last week. 

  • He fired rounds of 69 and 71 for a two-round total of 140 to finish tied for first out of 255 golfers. 

  • The Dutch finished 13th out of 41 teams (291-313)


Baseball - Pitcher of the Week - Brody Von Berge (Hudson, Wis./Hudson), Luther College

  • Von Berge pitched in game two of the three-game series versus Buena Vista over the weekend. 

  • He gave up four hits, no runs, and one walk along with eight strikeouts. 

  • He improved to 4-3 overall as the Norse defeated the Beavers 4-2.


Baseball - Position Player of the Week - Max Steinlage (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls), Central College

  • Steinlage led the Dutch with five hits and a .455 hitting percentage in a 2-1 week. 


Softball - Position Player of the Week - Carley Bredar (Eldridge, Iowa/North Scott), Wartburg College

  • Bredar went 7-of-15 at the plate this week and recorded at least one RBI in each game. 

  • She finished with three RBI in each doubleheader this week. 

  • In the field, she recorded five putouts in center field and had one assisted putout. 

  • She helped lead the Knights to a 3-1 week in conference action.


Men’s Tennis - Performer of the Week - Bodi Kortz (Wormeveer, Netherlands/St. Michael College), Central College

  • Kortz went 2-0 last week versus Simpson in conference action. 

  • He picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. 

  • Kortz paired up with Christie to grab a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles. 

  • He helped guide the Dutch to a 7-0 win over Simpson. 


Men’s Outdoor Track & Field - Field Performer of the Week - Carter Allen (Danville, Iowa/New London), Loras College

  • Allen competed at the Loras Mid-Week ahead of Easter last week. 

  • In the discus, he recorded a mark of 50.23m to finish second out of 37 competitors. 

  • This was his best mark of the season and ranks No. 10 in Division III so far this season. 


Men’s Outdoor Track & Field - Track Performer of the Week - Kale Hobart (Mason City, Iowa/Mason City), Central College

  • Hobart competed in the Dutch-Storm dual. 

  • He finished in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.65 seconds to finish first out of nine runners. 

  • His time ranks No. 24 in Division III so far this season.


Women’s Outdoor Track & Field - Field Performer of the Week - Emma Lueck (Wellman, Iowa/Mid-Prairie), Simpson College

  • Lueck competed south in Texas at the JG Gonzales Memorial Invitational. 

  • She competed in long jump and recorded a mark of 5.56m.

  • She finished third out of 19 competitors. 

  • Her mark is 17th best in Division III this season. 


Women’s Outdoor Track & Field - Track Performer of the Week - Rosie Flynn (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth United), Loras College

  • Flynn competed at the Loras Easter Mid-Week. 

  • In the 800m she crossed the line in 2:15.75 to finish first out of 19 competitors. 

  • Her time was a new personal best.


Weekly Report

From rain to shine and cold to warm, baseball and softball conference games are off and running. 

On the baseball side, Luther sits 8-3 atop the standings and Coe stands at 6-3. 

On the softball side, Luther has started 2-0.
