CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The coaches have selected the 2025 American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Women’s Soccer postseason award selections. These outstanding student-athletes have distinguished themselves throughout the conference regular season.
Coaches from the conference nominated and selected this year’s all-conference team, recognizing the top performers. In addition to honoring the all-conference team, the release also recognizes the Defensive Most Valuable Performer, Offensive Most Valuable Performer, Rookie of the Year, and Coaching Staff of the Year.
The A-R-C proudly announces today that Loras College’s Sierra Morgano has been selected as Women’s Soccer Defensive Most Valuable Performer for the 2025 season. The University of Dubuque picked up the remaining three major awards after an impressive regular season: Alyssa Tranchita (Offensive Most Valuable Performer), Sarah Thompson (Rookie of the Year), and Coaching Staff of the Year led by Jason Berna.
Berna joined UD in 2001 as he started the men’s and women’s soccer programs. He stepped down in 2008 from the men’s position to focus on the women. This is the fifth time, under the direction of Berna, the Spartans have earned Coaching Staff of the Year honors. Berna led UD to the conference regular season title for just the second time in program history after posting a 7-0-1 record in conference action. Berna is assisted by Emma Sauriol and Johanne Ueland.
Morgano is the sixth Loras College player to receive Defensive MVP honors, joining Kinsey Campbell (2013), Taylor Trovato (2019), Payton McDonnell (2021), Olivia Lansing (2022), and Reagan Lindsay (2024). She was part of a defensive unit that led the league with only allowing two goals on the season. Morgano was seen on the field for 656 minutes during the conference slate.
Tranchita is earning her first major award honor in her career as Offensive MVP. She becomes the second UD player to earn offensive major award honors joining Brooke Brodzinski (spring 2021). Prior to the MVP award being split to recognize an offensive and defensive standout in 2013, UD had two players named conference MVP. Tranchita played 686 minutes in conference action this fall. She recorded 14 points on five goals and four assists.
UD’s Thompson made a name for herself during her rookie campaign and is being honored with Rookie of the Year honors. Thompson was on the field for 711 minutes during eight conference matches. She recorded one goal in the season.

About the American Rivers Conference
Nationally respected for excellence in NCAA Division III athletics, the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) has a tradition dating back to its founding in 1922 as the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Association and adopted its current name in 2018 to reflect its strong Iowa roots and growing regional footprint. The A-R-C is a collaborative community that champions the holistic development of student-athletes, uniting member institutions in a shared commitment to academic achievement, athletic distinction, and leadership.
The A-R-C is home to nine full-time member institutions: Buena Vista University, Central College, Coe College, University of Dubuque, Loras College, Luther College, Nebraska Wesleyan University, Simpson College, and Wartburg College. Luther College has announced its departure from the conference, effective at the conclusion of the 2025–26 academic year.
