Men's Soccer Win A-R-C Tournament Championship 1-0 Over Nebraska Wesleyan

WAVERLY, Iowa – Wartburg men's soccer repeated as American Rivers Conference Tournament Champions after defeating Nebraska Wesleyan at home 1-0 on Saturday, Nov. 9.
 
Match Summary
  • First Half
    • Wartburg got an early corner kick after a shot from Landon Hartsell was deflected out of bounds and then minutes later NWU put a shot on goal that was saved by Henry Eckert
    • Curtis Ratzer recorded the first shot on goal for the Knights in the 13th minute that was saved by the Prairie Wolves
    • Both Landon Hartsell and Flori Gembo recorded shots for the Knights that were off target, but minutes later Gembo fired a shot on goal that was saved in the 27th minute
    • NWU had a shot attempt following a corner kick but the shot deflected off the left post and went out of play to keep the score at 0-0 headed into halftime
  • Second Half
    • Aidan Mott fired an early shot on goal in the 49th minute for Wartburg that was saved, but less than a minute later Gembo created space for himself to get off a long-range shot that found the back of the net to put Wartburg ahead 1-0
    • Eckert made another save in goal for the Knights in the 61st minute
    • The Knights' defense continued to hold off the NWU attack to preserve a 1-0 lead
    • Eckert made one final save in the 88th minute to secure a 1-0 win over the Prairie Wolves for Wartburg
