Coe's Fain and Leasure, Luther's Coaching Staff Headline Women's Tennis Postseason Awards

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The coaches have selected the 2024-25 American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Women’s Tennis postseason award selections. These outstanding student-athletes have distinguished themselves throughout the conference fall season and individual tournament. 
 
Coaches from the conference nominated and selected this year’s all-conference team, recognizing the top performers in both singles and doubles play. In addition to honoring the all-conference team, the release also recognizes the Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Coaching Staff of the Year.

The American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) announced today that Coe College’s Sophia Fain has been selected Women’s Tennis Player of the Year for the 2024 season. Coe’s Addison Leasure has been named the inaugural Rookie of the Year and Luther head coach Adam Strand and his staff were voted American Rivers Coaching Staff of the Year. In addition to the major awards, the conference announced the 2024 All-Conference team. 
 
Strand, in his 14th season leading charge of the women’s team, guided the Norse to their 33rd league title after remaining a perfect 8-0 throughout the conference schedule. They finished the fall with an overall record of 8-2. Luther’s Coaching Staff of the Year honor is the fifth under the direction of Strand and the 21st for the program. Fain, a sophomore from Waterloo, Iowa, is earning All-Conference recognition in singles and doubles along with her Player of the Year accolade. She finished conference dual play with a 8-0 record at No. 1 singles and a 5-2 record in doubles action. This is Fain’s second all-conference honor of her career.

Leasure, a freshman from Colorado Springs, Colorado, is earning All-Conference recognition at singles and doubles along with her Rookie of the Year honor. She finished conference dual play with a 8-0 record in singles and a 5-2 record in doubles.

Joining Fain and Leasure on the all-conference team are Alli Hagness and Alice Tysoe. Hagness is earning all-conference nods in both singles and doubles after posting records of 6-2 in singles and 5-2 doubles. Tysoe is earning all-conference honors, as a freshman, in doubles after a 5-2 conference record. 
 
The Luther College Norse, the 2024 A-R-C regular season champions, saw seven different players earn All-Conference distinctions after their play this season. Lena Lichau, a sophomore, earned honors in singles after recording a 2-0 conference mark. Montse Ramirez Mainou, a senior, earned all-conference singles honors after posting a 7-0 conference record. Jay Mascardo is picking up singles all-conference honors after a 3-0 conference record this fall. Abby Ostermann is earning all-conference accolades in both singles and doubles after posting a 7-1 record in singles and 7-0 doubles mark in conference matches this fall. Riley O’Donnell, a senior, is also earning all-conference honors in both singles and doubles after recording fall conference records of 7-0 in singles and 7-0 in doubles. Allie Christensen, a freshman, is earning doubles all-conference recognition after posting a 5-2 conference record this fall. Last for the Norse is Julia Moreno, a senior, who is earning doubles all-conference honors after a 5-2 mark this fall in conference doubles matches. 
 
The Spartans saw a pair earn all-conference nods this season. Adriana Benavente is earning her second all-conference singles accolade after finishing with a 5-3 conference record. Joining her is Molly Jex after an impressive freshman campaign and posting a 6-2 singles mark. 
 
Loras’ Mary Breitbach is earning her second-straight conference honors in both singles and doubles. Breitbach finished 6-2 at No. 1 singles and 6-2 in doubles.
 
Addi Duranski is picking up her third all-conference honor after battling through the season for the Prairie Wolves. She finished the 2024 campaign with a 4-3 record in doubles action this fall. 
 
Natalie Kaiser and Emma Thurness found themselves on the all-conference list for the Wartburg College Knights. Kaiser is earning her third-straight nods in both singles and doubles this season. She finished with a 3-4 record at singles and 6-1 record at doubles. Thurness is earning her first all-conference nod on the doubles team after finishing the year with a 5-2 conference mark.
