University of Dubuque Falls to CWRU in First Round of NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The University of Dubuque men's basketball team fell to Case Western Reserve University (19-6) in an overtime thriller, 87-91 in the first round of the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament.

The Spartans were led in scoring by league Most Valuable Player, Peter Ragen, with 32 points. Jaylin McCants added 18 points, followed by Levi Scheuermann with 14 points. Brock Simon and Sam Kilburg also finished in double-digits with 12 points and 11 pionts, respectively. Scheuermann posted a team-high 11 rebounds while McCants grabbed 10 boards.

The Spartans end the season with an overall record of 21-7 and a 14-2 conference record. Dubuque won their second consecutive conference title. They garnered MVP (Ragen), Defensive Player of the Year (Simon) and Coach of the Year (Robbie Sieverding) honors.
