DUBUQUE, Iowa – After day one of the 2022 NCAA Wrestling Lower Midwest Regional, 27 wrestlers from the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) have advanced to the championship semifinals and 24 remain alive in the consolation quarterfinals.
 
The regional serves as the NCAA’s qualifier for the National Championships, with the top three wrestlers at each weight advancing. One-hundred and eighty qualifiers will emerge from this weekend’s six regionals to line up inside the Alliant Energy Powerhouse for the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships. The American Rivers Conference and Cedar Rapids Tourism are hosting the 2022 National Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12. When 27 of the 40 semifinal spots are filled with American Rivers Conference wrestlers, there are bound to be some conference matchups. One weight class has all four wrestlers from the A-R-C – 184lbs. Five weight classes have three A-R-C wrestlers competing for a spot in the championship – 125lbs., 149lbs., 157lbs., 174lbs., 197lbs. The remaining four weight classes have two A-R-C wrestlers each in the semis, with two creating a head-to-head A-R-C bout.

The tournament resumes tomorrow, Saturday, February 26 with championship semifinals and consolation third round beginning at 11:00 a.m. First-, third-, fifth- and seventh-place matches are slated to begin at 2:30 p.m. Doors open to the spectators at 10:00 a.m.
