LINCOLN, Neb. - Nebraska Wesleyan University announced it has officially named
Ryan Norman as the head coach for men's golf. Norman will continue to serve as the head coach of the women's golf program as well.
"We're very excited to have Ryan take over the men's golf program at NWU and see him continue to build on the recent success of the program," stated Nebraska Wesleyan athletic director Ira Zeff. "Ryan's passion for teaching golf combined with his knowledge of the game made him the perfect fit to lead the program, which makes me excited for the future of Prairie Wolf golf."
Norman takes over the men's golf program following the departure of Derrick Ceder, who pursued a different head coaching opportunity. Norman took over at the helm of the women's golf program on December 2, 2019. The Prairie Wolves saw steady improvement under Norman in the 2020-2021 season and are set to have a breakout season in year two. NWU had two of its best finishes of the season in the last two events, highlighted by a third-place standing at the College of St. Mary/Midland Spring Invitational on April 14. Nebraska Wesleyan also had its lowest team score in a round since 2017 at the Wartburg Spring Invitational just four days later.
"I am very excited to take over the Nebraska Wesleyan men's program, which boasts a strong championship pedigree already," stated Norman. "We will work very hard to continue elevating both programs, both in recruiting and player development. I look forward to getting started with both the men's and women's programs this fall."
Along with his duties at Nebraska Wesleyan, Norman is a PGA Professional and is the director of the Ryan Norman
Golf Academy at Fox Run Golf Club.
As a competitor, Norman qualified for the 2015 PGA Professional National Championship Qualifier that highlights the top 300 PGA Playing Professionals in the country. Norman plays professionally throughout the summer within the Nebraska Section PGA and is a four-time Nebraska PGA Cup Team Qualifier. Norman earned a degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Sport Psychology in 2005.
The Nebraska Wesleyan men's golf team has won the last three American Rivers Conference Championships and qualified for the NCAA Championships in each of the last three years. The Prairie Wolves were the 2006 NCAA Division III National Champions and have claimed 36 conference titles in program history.
