NCAA: All Winter and Spring Championships Cancelled

3/12/2020 4:00:00 PM

Cedar Rapids, Iowa -- The National Collegiate Athletic Association announced today that all winter and spring championships are cancelled for the rest of the school year due to the COVID-19 outbreak. This includes the Division III wrestling championships, scheduled to begin at the U.S. Cellular Center tomorrow morning. All pre-sold tickets have been invalidated and are eligible for reimbursement.

NCAA President Mark Emmert
"Today, NCAA President Mark Emmert and the Board of Governors canceled the Division I men’s and women’s 2020 basketball tournaments, as well as all remaining winter and spring NCAA championships. This decision is based on the evolving COVID-19 public health threat, our ability to ensure the events do not contribute to spread of the pandemic, and the impracticality of hosting such events at any time during this academic year given ongoing decisions by other entities."

American Rivers Conference
The conference's Presidents Council will be discussing spring-sports scheduling within the next 24 hours and will release an official statement at the appropriate time.
