D3football Announces 2019 All-Region Teams

13 A-R-C Student Athletes Named All-West Region

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -  The American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) had 12 football student-athletes selected All-West Region by D3football.com. Selections were split with six defensive players, four offensive players, and two specialists earning a place on the All-Region squad. Central College's Jon Alberts (Sr., K, Huntley, Ill./Huntley) headlined the league's honorees as a first-team selection. 

All-Region teams are selected by balloting by West Region sports information directors and the D3football.com staff. This year's team was chosen from 270 nominations by Division III schools, with a total of 79 making the All-Region team. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for the D3football.com All-American teams, which will be announced after the 2019 NCAA Division III National Championship game on December 20.

Alberts continues to add to his long list of accolades this season. The Huntley, Ill. native also was named to the AFCA First-Team All-America, as well as being named First-Team All-Conference for three consecutive seasons (2017-2019). The senior also got it done in the classroom, being named CoSIDA Academic All-District, studying Business Management and Philosophy while maintaining a 3.92 GPA. To cap off his senior season, the sure-footed kicker has been named a finalist for the Fred Mitchell Outstanding Place Kicker Award for the second straight season. 

On the field, he was a perfect 59-of-59 on extra points this year while connecting on 11 of 13 field goals (84.6%) with a long of 48 yards. All three of which, led the A-R-C. His 84.6% mark on field goals was tied for 6th best in all of NCAA Division III football. He was 33 of 38 for his career on field goals while hitting 143 of 148 extra-point tries. Of his 84 kickoffs, 20 went for touchbacks.

Alberts and his Central team advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Division III Football Playoffs, in what came down to his PAT conversion in overtime against Wisconsin-Oshkosh in the First Round.
