Colt Feltes won the men's award, winning the shot put with an effort of 16.67 meters (54-8 1/4), besting the 2-year-old mark of 16.41 meters set by Central's Matt Graber. He also captured the weight throw with a toss of 16.56 meters (54-4).
Kayla Hemann completed her double by winning the shot with a throw of 13.84 meters (45-5) and the weight throw with an effort of 16.30 meters (53-5 3/4).

Most Valuable Track Performers Central senior
Felicia Coleman and Simpson junior
Joe Farrand were named the Conference’s Most Valuable Track Performers. Coleman won the 55-meter dash (7.17) and the 200 (24.92) and ran the second leg of Central's 4x200 relay (1:44.57) and anchored the runner-up 4x400-meter relay (4:00.18) for the Dutch. Coleman's victory in the 200 came in a championship-record time, bettering the mark of 24.97 set by Nevada Morrison last year.
Farrand swept the 3,000 (8:43.86) and 5,000 (15:22.08).
Farrand is the first Simpson male student-athlete to receive IIAC indoor track and field MVP honors, while Coleman is the first Central female student-athlete to earn IIAC MVP honors in indoor track and field.
Seven Records Broken or Tied: A total of seven Iowa Conference indoor championship meet records fell (or were tied) at this year’s event.
Three men's marks fell (or were matched) by Wartburg athletes. In addition to Feltes' effort in the shot put, fellow sophomore Daniel Bonthius won the 800 in 1:54.65, knocking four-hundredths off the previous mark set by Simpson's Eric Patten in 2008. Junior Jonas Elusme matched his own IIAC meet record by clearing 2.11 meters (6-11) in the high jump.
Central sophomore Eli Horton took nearly two seconds off the mark in the men's mile, completing the event with a time of 4:16.11. The Buena Vista 4x800 relay of Andrew Smith, Garrett Woodson, Ben Berberich and Seth Woodson set the final mark on the men's side, brushing away the previous mark by nearly eight seconds. The quartet stopped the clock in 7:52.15, one of four teams that bettered the previous record of 7:59.59 set by Central in 2009.
The Knights closed out their championship run with a record-setting performance in the 1,600-meter relay. The quartet of Karly Cochrane, Taylor Moore, Kendra Kregel and Kayla Kregel won in a time of 3:55.57, besting the mark of 3:56.35 set by Central in 2011.
Newsom & Dunham Named Coaches of the Year: Wartburg head coach Marcus Newsom was named the league’s women’s coach of the year, while Central coach Joe Dunham was honored as the men’s coach of the year. The award is the ninth for Newsom in women's indoor track & field and the third in men's indoor track & field for Dunham.
The top-three finishers in each event, including all members of the top-three finishing relay teams, are recognized as All-Conference.
The NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships are March 8-9 at North Central College in Naperville, Ill.
