CEDAR FALLS, IOWA . . . Wartburg's Jordan Galles and Kelsi Sawatzky and Central's Kaurie Kincaid each fired a 4-over-par 77 and lead the rest of the field by three strokes following the first round of the 2010 Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Women's Golf Championship at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course Friday.
Wartburg College holds the 18-hole lead after firing a 322 with Central College 14 strokes back at 336. Loras College, which was seeded seventh entering the Championship, sits in third place after firing a season-low round of 343 and leads Luther College (345) by a pair of strokes.
Central's Ali Miller sits alone in fourth after firing an 80, while Buena Vista's Kylie Hammer is five shots off the pace in fifth place after an 82. Luther's Laura Davis and Katie Gaudian, Loras' Megan Gregg, Wartburg's Amy Kobliska, and Buena Vista's Kylie Woodley make up a five-way tie for sixth after carding 83s.
The IIAC Championship continues Saturday at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course in Cedar Falls. Tee times begin at 9:00 a.m. with players from Wartburg, Central and Loras. Luther, Buena Vista, and Coe golfers will be paired together in the second wave of tee times, while the fianl wave will be comprised of golfers from Simpson, Dubuque, and Cornell.
