Tayran Barrick-Wessels Award Pitcher of the Week Week Of 4/8/2024 Sport Softball School Simpson College Year Senior Position Hometown Ackley, Iowa High School AGWSR Softball – Pitcher Player of the Week Taryan Barrick-Wessels, Simpson College Sr., P, Ackley, Iowa/AGWSR Barrick-Wessels continued a fine season picking up two wins over ten innings of work to begin conference play. The Storm defeated Buena Vista (11-1) and Dubuque (9-3) in the appearances of the senior on the mound. She earned the win over Buena Vista, allowing two hits over three innings and striking out five. The senior then pitched a complete game in the win over Dubuque, allowing only four hits and two earned runs, and adding another three strikeouts. Barrick-Wessels ranks third in the conference currently with a 1.13 ERA. She has a 7-1 record on the season so far. Simpson is now 21-5 overall and a perfect 4-0 in A-R-C action to begin the season. They are back on the field this week against Nebraska Wesleyan (Tuesday), Loras (Thursday), and Wartburg (Saturday). The Ackley, Iowa native is picking up her second career Pitcher of the Week honor (3/28/22, 4/8/24).
