High School Geneseo Men’s Tennis – Player of the Week Alex Slaymaker, Central College Fr., Geneseo, Ill./Geneseo The Dutch had a successful 2-1 week on the courts guided by an impressive performance from Slaymaker. Central fell to Illinois Wesleyan (5-4) and then defeated Greenville (5-4) and Cornell (5-4). At No. 6 singles, Slaymaker defeated Illinois Wesleyan’s Griffin Hammond 6-1, 6-4. At No. 2 doubles, he paired up with Ayden Fletcher to take down Ben Vigneri and Zeke Cross 8-6. At No. 6 singles against Greenville, the freshman defeated Dylan Collins 6-4, 6-1. Slaymaker and Fletcher paired up again at No. 2 doubles to defeat Thibaut Tignee and Jean Riguad Sanabria 8-5. In his finals singles match of the weekend at No. 6, Slaymaker battled Edwin Holyoake of Cornell and won 6-0, 6-2. The duo of Slaymaker and Fletcher took the court one more time at No. 2 doubles to take down Trent Devore and Mills Arnold 8-5. Slaymaker had a perfect 6-0 week. The Geneseo, Illinois native is collecting his first career Men’s Tennis Player of the Week honor.
