Spencer Moon Award Male Athlete of the Week Week Of 2/26/2024 Sport American Rivers Conference School Simpson College Year Senior Position Hometown Lake City, Iowa High School South Central Calhoun Male Athlete of the Week - Men’s Indoor Track & Field – Track Performer of the Week Spencer Moon, Simpson College Sr., Lake City, Iowa/South Central Calhoun Moon and the No. 7-ranked Simpson College Storm competed at the 2024 A-R-C Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted at the University of Dubuque over the weekend where Moon was named Track Most Valuable Performer. Moon finished atop the podium in both events he competed in at the championships. The Lake City native earned his first gold medal of the championship after he crossed the finish line first in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:49.07. The senior broke the facility record and set a new championship record in the 3,000-meter run, finishing with a time of 8:16.11. This is the second year in a row he has earned Indoor Track Most Valuable Performer. This mark’s Moon’s third Indoor Track Performer of the Week honor (2/26/24, 2/12/24, 1/22/24). Additionally, Moon has been named Outdoor Track Performer of the Week twice in his career (5/15/23, 4/24/23) and Cross Country Runner of the Week three times (9/11/23, 9/5/23, 9/6/21).
