In his first appearance on the mat, Hernandez picked up a tech fall (15-0) victory over Riese Thornberry of UW-Stevens Point. He picked up win number two by decision (10-4) over Talan Schutte of UW-La Crosse. The fifth year gained a forfeit win over Dalton Monger from Messiah College. In the championship bout, Hernandez took down No. 5-nationally ranked Zach Sato from UW-Eau Claire by major decision (13-5). Hernandez now has moved his overall season record to 17-2 and is currently ranked No. 3-regionally ranked by NWCA. The Dumas, Texas native is picking up his first Wrestler of the Week honor in his career and the first for Buena Vista since 2019.
