Joshua Van Gorp Award Player of the Week Week Of 1/29/2024 Sport Men's Basketball School Central College Year Senior Position Hometown Pella, Iowa High School Pella Christian Men’s Basketball – Player of the Week Josh Van Gorp, Central College Sr., C, Pella, Iowa/Pella Christian Van Gorp had a week to remember as the Dutch finished the week 2-0 in conference action on the road. In the first game of the week, Central picked up a 91-70 win over Simpson. The senior shot 76% from the field (13-for-17) as he recorded 29 points. Additionally, Van Gorp had ten rebounds and one assist to record his first double-double for the week. Breaking a 43-year-old Central College record, Van Gorp posted 48 points on 20 field goals on Saturday as the Dutch picked up a 94-75 win over No. 23-ranked Coe College. On top of his impressive scoring performance, he grabbed 14 rebounds and two assists to post another double-double. Van Gorp currently ranks first nationally for field goals made (196), third nationally for points (466) and points per game (23.3ppg), and sixth nationally in field goal percentage (66.89%) Overall on the week, Van Gorp averaged 80.5% from the field, 38.5ppg, and 12rpg. The Central Dutch improved to 14-6 overall and 8-3 in league play. The Dutch will host Buena Vista and Loras this week in A-R-C action. Van Gorp was the 2022-23 Most Valuable Player in the conference. This is the Pella, Iowa native’s fourth Player of the Week accolade of his career (12/5/22, 12/19/22, 1/9/23, 1/29/24).
