Cael Schmitt Award Player of the Week Week Of 1/22/2024 Sport Men's Basketball School Coe College Year Senior Position Guard Hometown Dubuque, Iowa High School Wahlert Catholic Men’s Basketball – Player of the Week Cael Schmitt, Coe College Sr., G, Dubuque, Iowa/Wahlert Schmitt played key roles in the Kohawks 2-0 week against conference opponents. The (RV) Kohawks defeated Wartburg 82-50 on Wednesday night. The senior began the week shooting 78% from the field (7-for-9) and 75% from distance (3-for-4) to record 17 points. He also picked up three steals and three assists in the win. Coe took down Buena Vista on Saturday 81-71. Schmitt found himself with 21 points, shooting 56% from the floor. He grabbed seven rebounds and picked up two steals in the win. The Kohawks improved to 16-2 overall and 8-1 in the A-R-C. Schmitt and Coe have a tough week ahead as Wednesday they go on the road to (RV) Loras and then Saturday host Central. Schmitt was the 2022-23 A-R-C Defensive Player of the Year. The Dubuque, Iowa native is collecting his second career Men’s Basketball Player of the Week accolade (2/21/22, 1/22/24).
