High School Toppenish Male Athlete of the Week – Wrestling - Wrestler of the Week Kyler Romero, Wartburg College Jr., 141lbs., Toppenish, Wash./Toppenish Romero and the No. 2-ranked Knights won their 13th NWCA National Dual Championship title over the weekend. In the first round against A-R-C foe, Loras, Romero won by fall at 4:52 over Nosa Egbon. In the quarterfinals, he faced Blake McGee of No. 15-ranked Wabash and won by an injury default. In the semifinal round against No. 3-ranked Wisconsin-La Crosse, the junior picked up important points for the Knights with a 17-1 tech fall victory over Sam Lorenz. In an 11-4 decision against No. 1-ranked Augsburg, Romero earned his final win of the weekend over Sam Stuhl to help guide the Knights to upsetting Augsburg. Romero has now won seven consecutive matches. The Knights remain a perfect 10-0 overall and 3-0 in A-R-C duals as they prepare to take the mat at the Cornell Invite on January 13. This is the first time the Toppenish, Washington native is picking up Wrestler of the Week honors.
