Paul Devine Award Defensive Player of the Week Week Of 10/16/2023 Sport Men's Soccer School Wartburg College Year Senior Position Hometown Council Bluffs, Iowa High School Lewis Central Men’s Soccer – Defensive Player of the Week Paul Devine, Wartburg College Sr., M, Council Bluffs, Iowa/Lewis Central Devine helped guide the Wartburg Knights to a 2-1-0 week. Wartburg began the week with a loss to Loras (2-0) but bounced back with wins over Central (1-0) and non-conference opponent St. John’s (2-0). The defensive midfielder played an average of 88 minutes in both of Wartburg’s shutout victories, including an additional 90 minutes in the loss to Loras. The senior assisted on the lone goal in the Central contest. Versus St. John’s, Devine scored the game-winning goal while also adding an assist for a total of three points. He contributed to each Knights goal on the week. Wartburg moves to 8-1-6 overall and 3-1-2 in the A-R-C. The Knights will travel to Indianola to face Simpson in their only contest this week. This is the Council Bluffs, Iowa native’s first-career Defensive Player of the Week honor.
