High School Dekalb Softball – Pitcher of the Week Ashley Nelson, Wartburg College Jr., RHP, Dekalb, Ill./Dekalb Nelson helped lead the Wartburg College Knights to a 3-0 week, including back-to-back A-R-C Softball Tournament titles, earning the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The junior right-hander threw all 21 innings during the three-game tournament for the Knights while allowing just four earned runs. Nelson surrendered 14 hits and five walks while striking out 10 batters. Game 1: Wartburg 6, Loras 2 – GS, W (10-8), CG, 3 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 5 K, .120 BAA Game 2: Wartburg 2, No. 18 Coe 1 – GS, W (11-8), CG, 3 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 3 K, .120 BAA Game 3: Wartburg 9, No. 22 Luther 3 – GS, W (12-8), CG, 8 H, 3 R, 2 K The Knights finished the conference season with a 10-6 mark while going 23-16 overall as they head into NCAA Tournament play. Wartburg will travel to Trine University where they will face off against Millikin to begin regional play. The Dekalb, Illinois native is collecting her third-career Pitcher of the Week honor (5/15/23, 5/9/22, 3/29/21).
