High School Yankton Men’s Tennis – Player of the Week Gage Becker, Loras College Fr., Yankton, S.D., Yankton Becker and the Duhawks went 2-1 on the week in conference play and 1-0 in non-conference action. Loras took down Dubuque (9-0), Cornell (6-3), and Simpson (8-1) and fell to Central (5-4). At No. 1-singles versus Dubuque, Becker took down Pedwar Castillo 6-0, 6-2. Teaming up with Konnor Barth at No. 2-doubles, they took down Ryan Kiddle and Josh Husemann 8-1. On Thursday against Cornell, Becker played No. 2-singles where he took down Federico Polidori 6-3, 6-0. Partnering up with Kareem Kassas to take down Zachary Ong and Chris Penas-Hull 8-1. Playing No. 3-singles against Simpson, the freshman took down Aaron Price 7-6 (10-8), 7-6 (8-3). Pairing up with Barth again at No. 2-doubles, the duo took down Price and Caleb Vasconez 8-7 (7-4). In the final match of the week, Becker took down AJ Wilkins at No. 3-singles (3-6, 6-3, 6-1). Becker and Barth took down Trey Melvin and Matthew Den Adel at No. 2-doubles 8-6. The Duhawks finish off their regular season this week against Luther, Buena Vista, and Nebraska Wesleyan. The Yankton, South Dakota native is earning his first-career Men’s Tennis Player of the Week honor.
