High School Benton-Scales Mound Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Field Performer of the Week Holden Murphy, Loras College Jr., Benton, Wis./Benton-Scales Mound The No.1-ranked Duhawks of Loras College and Murphy competed at the UW-Platteville Invite, where Loras won the event with 144 points. Continuing with an impressive season, Murphy competed in the shot put, discus, hammer throw, and javelin. With a mark of 15.12m in the shot put, Murphy won the event out of 14 competitors. In the discus, he fouled and did not place in the event. Taking the top mark and breaking a program record again in the hammer, the junior won with a throw of 57.24m. This mark ranks twelfth in Division III so far this season. The junior finished fifth out of 40 competitors in the javelin, finishing with a mark of 53.05m, which is Murphy’s career best. The Duhawks and Murphy will be in action this Friday and Saturday when they travel to Rock Island, Illinois for the Augustana College Meet of Champions. This is the second time in Murphy’s career he is earning Men’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Week accolade (4/11/22, 4/17/23). Additionally, he has earned Indoor Field Performer of the Week honors three times (1/24/22, 1/23/23, 2/20/23).
