High School Minooka Women’s Basketball – Player of the Week Cierra Bachmann, Loras College Sr., G, Channahon, Ill./Minooka Bachmann led the No. 19/RV-ranked Duhawks to their first conference tournament championship since 2016 following two wins in the conference tournament. On Thursday in the conference semifinals, Bachmann assisted Loras in a win over No. 3-seeded Simpson where she scored 19 points and seven rebounds in their dominant 88-54 win. Saturday, they travelled to Waverly for the championship game to face off against (1) No. 24/RV-ranked Wartburg Knights. The senior led the Duhawks with 23 points, three assists, two rebounds, and one blocked shot to help Loras secure their first women’s basketball tournament title since 2016 by a score of 72-61. Bachmann shot 50% from the field and 41% from beyond the arc. She also was 9-for-10 from the charity stripe. Loras awaits their fate in the NCAA Tournament where they will find out where they will be heading for the first-round today, February 27 at 1:30 p.m. (CST). Loras finished the season with a 23-4 overall record and 14-2 in the conference. The Duhawks are currently ranked No. 2 in Region IX heading into the selection show. The Channahon, Illinois native is earning her first Player of the Week honor in her career.
