High School Platteville Women’s Basketball – Player of the Week Sami Martin, Loras College Jr., G, Platteville, Wis./Platteville Martin led the No. 24-ranked Duhawks to two conference wins over the final week of regular season competition over the University of Dubuque and regular season conference champions, Wartburg College. On Wednesday, Martin finished with 30 points, nine rebounds, two steals, and one assist in the 62-45 victory. She was 12-for-17 from the field and 6-for-7 from the line in the crosstown rivalry game. On Saturday, Martin grabbed an impressive 14 rebounds to lead the Duhawks to giving the No. 20-ranked Knights their first conference loss of the season. The junior additionally added 13 points for Loras in the win. Martin shot 55% from the field and 69% from the charity stripe in their two contests this week. The Duhawks finished the regular season with a 21-4 overall record and finished second in the regular season in the league with a 14-2 record. Martin and the Duhawks secured the No. 2-seed in the conference tournament and they will either face Simpson or Dubuque on Thursday, February 23 in the semifinals of the conference tournament. Martin is a two-time First Team All-Conference performer. The Platteville, Wisconsin native is earning her third Player of the Week honor in her career (2/20/23, 1/3/23, 12/6/21).
