Simpson and Buena Vista finished eighth out of ten teams at St. Ambrose, scoring 31 points in 16 events scored. The Beavers took second out of eight teams, recording 106 points at the Darren Young Invitational. Simpson set two new school records at St. Ambrose, breaking her marks from last season. The senior came out on the top of the leaderboard of the weight throw on Friday, throwing 17.71 meters. At St. Ambrose in the shot put, Simpson took second place, recording a 14.21-meter throw. On Saturday, Simpson finished first in both the weight throw (17.21 meters) and the shot put (14.13 meters). Her performance on Friday moved her to national ranks at sixth in shot put and ninth in weight throw. This marks the Plattsmouth, Nebraska native’s first-career Indoor Field Performer of the Week accolade.
