Joshua Van Gorp Award Player of the Week Week Of 1/9/2023 Sport Men's Basketball School Central College Year Junior Position Hometown Pella, Iowa High School Pella Christian Men’s Basketball – Player of the Week Joshua Van Gorp, Central College Jr., C, Pella, Iowa/Pella Christian Van Gorp helped the Central Dutch to a 1-1 record in conference play during the week. The Dutch lost to the Wartburg College Knights 80-69 on Wednesday in Waverly but came back home for a victory on Saturday over Loras College (83-71). On Wednesday’s game, Van Gorp shot 81.8% from the field, scoring 22 points and picking up nine boards. The junior center’s success continued Saturday as he recorded a double-double (32 points, 13 rebounds) while shooting 83.3% from the field. Additionally, the Pella native recorded six blocked shots and added an assist. Overall on the week, Van Gorp averaging 82.7% from the field, 27 points, and 11 rebounds. The Central Dutch improved to 9-4 overall and 4-1 in league play to stay atop the standings with Loras and Simpson. Van Gorp is a 2021-22 Honorable Mention performer. This is the Pella native’s third Player of the Week accolade of his career (1/9/23, 12/19/22, 12/5/22).
