High School Platteville Female Athlete of the Week – Women’s Basketball – Player of the Week Sami Martin, Loras College Jr., G, Platteville, Wis./Platteville Martin led the Loras Duhawks in scoring twice over the last four games as Loras went 4-0 including wins over two ranked opponents. The Duhawks went 2-0 at the Cruzin’ Classic in Miami Gardens, Florida defeating Hanover College (73-31) and No. 9/9 ranked Babson College (73-52). Loras hosted a Holiday Tournament where they defeated No. 23-ranked Calvin University (73-54) and UW-Stevens Point (85-58). Over the four games, Martin averaged 18.5 points and eight rebounds. The junior guard shot 55.3% from the field, and 78.6% from the charity stripe. Martin recorded a double-double in the victory over No. 9 Babson, scoring 21 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. The Loras College Duhawks improved to 10-2 overall and remain a perfect 3-0 in league play. Martin is a two-time First Team All-Conference performer. The Platteville native is earning her second Player of the Week honor in her career (1/3/23, 12/6/21).
